Well, no-one seems to have come up with a good design for a PS that will run ANY system, so, here we go.. tell me whats wrong with it, also, I need some help with the +5volt feekback thing, please edit the circuit, and repost if you can help, thanx....

The inductors in teh red box are those "COMBO" inductors, all inductor values are just guesses..

Okay, perhaps I need alittle more info?? the reason I used 2 transformers is cos there is NO WAY I could fit all those turns on 1 E-core, especially seeing I am using the normal AC-DC PS ones..

Hmm...... nothing.. lol... anyway, this PS SHOULD (lots of "shoulds" hey?) be able to output about 300watts continouously, and, the schemati cwas based around THIS...

300w?!?!?! what u gonna be running? 9 case fans, 6 HDDs, CD DVD, wireless modem? bit of overkill is'nt it? Also drawing 300w (it going to be more than this if its 300w OUTPUT) of power from your car alternator (25A) is a) going to shorten its lifetime, and b) going to cost a great deal more for parts.

I like the idea tho, I had a similar sort of objective when I first set out to create my PS designs, but then realised I probable needed at least one headlight on my car to work as well.

This is a nice PSU and I used it as base for my own, because these parts are easy to get over here (much easier than the sproggy parts).

Have a look at the schematic, perhaps it gives you working data for the coils ;-))

Yeah, its alright, but had REALLY low ratings, and would never run my desktop system in the car..

I was lookig for something with atleast 20amps on the 5volt rail, and 10amps on teh 3.3 and 12volts..

might even use it to run 2 systems in teh car from the one supply..

Well, 25amps isn't that big a deal, I an sure it would work just fine, with BOTH headlights working. :P

The new modified schematic (well, both do the same thing, but I think some of teh values in teh first one weren't too good, also, not all PSs use the 5volt rail to get -5volts, instead they use the -12volt with a -5volt regulator, which means that there is less inductors on the combo inductor, so, you can't use the 5volt winding..
