Does it loom like an AT mb connector. If so then its the extra 12v power.
hey, i just picked up a used dell psu for next to nothing. the only difference i see between it and my other atx's is that it has this one connector with three blue and three black wires. do you have any clue what these are? can i live without them?
thanks
dan

well after taking it apart i realize that it is twice as tall as my old burnt up psu, so i guess i wont be using it,
anyone got an extra 150-250w ATX psu they want to get rid of?
thanks
dan
A lot of pc companies have used odd psu's for years, so that you have to go to them for replacements, and I have no clue what the extra power leads are for precicesly, but a dell mobo wont power on with out them connected. compaq's dont have a seperate plug, the just do an oversized (2x14 or 2x16) "atx" power connector, rendering them useless outside of a compaq. they're also oddly sized as well.
