today i was reading a post on here and it sed something about a standard computer hard drive can use more more then u have....

not alot in ther really just my m/b, hard drive, with one usb wire going to the touch screen and thats about it....
thats all that runs of my dsat..
whilst unplugged at the mo i have a 1600w amp. 2 1200w 12" subs, sat nav and usb tv.
just dont no y iam not getting enough power to boot the comp on the screen.. whilst taking the hard drive out makes it work.
What is your mobo/cpu combo?
Also, unplug the amp and see if the carpc boot up and function.
I'm thinking that the PSU doesn't get enough power. So you either run BIGGER wire from the battery to the distro block and branch it out to the amp and carpc.
WHAT ARE THE MOTHERBOARD/CPU/RAM/HDD YOU ARE USING?!?!?!?
Please forgive my outburst. We are trying to help you pinpoint the problem. Part of that troubleshooting process is information gathering. If the cause of your problem is too high a power draw, then the details of your PC setup whould help us to diagnose that.
Help us help you, amigo.
my computer is of the following...
VIA EPIA M10000 Nehemiah Mainboard (1Ghz)
Kingston 1000MB PC2100 266MHz DDR Memory
DuraWatt Dsatx 220w dc-dc atx psu
160g Hitachi Deskstar Hard Drive Running xp
Use a meter and check what is the battery voltage AT the PSU. It shoudl be about the same voltage reading as it was AT the battery.
Also check the output reading on all power rail from the PSU (5V, 3.3V, 12V...)
Your setup probably only uses half of what the DSATX capable of.
well today i checked all the rails and they are all fine, iam going to see if its the monitor side of things next....
