Carnetix p2140 Installation Question

I've been using it now for a couple of weeks and I must say this is very good! Not surprisingly since I've had P1900 for a couple of years now and never had any real issues.
I was using the previous version with no "USB turn on" feature, I must say since my PSU is inside my case opening it and doing the firmware update is a major pain in the ***, so as of now I havent tried it yet.
Im using a Commel 671 so Ill be updating on its USB wake on capabilities soon.

Okay, I ordered an sx270 ($240 on Ebay) and the Carnetix 2140. I'm pretty confident I can connect everything, with the possible exception of soldering the two wires to the power button on the mother board. Is it absolutely necessary to do this on the mother board, or can they be connected to the push button on the chassis? Since I am the world's worst solderer, I am extremely reluctant to working on the MB. Does anyone have a close-up photo of this? Any help / advice would be very much appreciated!

I don't know if you still need an answer for this. However, if you don't wish to solder any wires you can do as I do and simply take a solution from the Laptop crowd, serial port shutdown software. This talked about by the laptop forks so you can just do a search on it.

I'm just looking for something that works. I'm not exactly sure how the serial port shutdown works, but I will start searching. From the sound of it, I will need to find an old serial port connector, hack into the wires and connect a 5V lead into one of them, correct? Does the software allow for a delayed shutdown? This would be a big plus to be able to turn the ignition off for a few minutes, restart and not have to go through a full boot.

Sorry first of all but I got a real stupid question.

I have a carnetix 2140 with a Mac Cable kit and a Mac Mini (Intel) to go into my Landrover.

I have no clue which wires go where - the Carnetix instructions are thorough but no good for complete novices.

I am guessing the Mac Mini Cable kit plugs into the six pin socket (as it cant go anywhere else!) Are all the other wires leading from this outputs of some sort?

I take it the 4 pin connector on the other end of the PSU are the Power in cables? ie from the battery and ignition.

The block diagrams in the Carnetix manual probably answer all these questions but I cant figure them out.

They show two red wires and two black wires coming out of the case and being joined together before going to the battery - is this right?

Also if I am using the Mac Mini do I need to set the jumper for the Primary Power out put to 12v or +20v. I am guessing the latter.

And where do all the cables go from the output. I know the mac power cable goes to the power in on the mac. I know the smaller (green and black) goes to the y connector once the power switch has been modified. Where do all the others go?

Sorry for all the stupid questions but I guess, we all have to start somewhere.

Please can someone point me in the right directions for the answers.

apparntly installin service pack 2 of XP enables wake on USB ??

is this correct ?

So the 2 wires on the power button (motherboard) get wired to the 2140?

Also, If i order teh 2140 from mp3car about how long does it take to arrive?

IF using standby mode you can use a USB cable from the P2140 to the computer and it will simulate a button push.

Have you installed this yet?
I have sx270 ready to go but didn't order 2140 yet though.
I'd like to get some input first if possible

Wow, another VW guy. Seems there are a lot of VW fans around here. I myself have a 01 gti 1.8t also.

I've been posting up a storm and what I've concluded is the dsx12vd would work for my sx260.
