Always good to share ideas like this on the forums.

Only good things can come of it.

I wasn't specifically referring to the source, just the banter on the boards in general.

Ok. I'll release the sources anyways, since I have no time at all to work on it since I'm at Berkeley now.

OK, at some point I'll start something as well.

My carputer died yesterday, started booting up, then the monitor just went black.

Monitor powers up, and fans power up, but pc is dead. So I have to fix that first when I have a sec. Sucks.

Very funny. I drive a 1990 GLI, there are no electronics in it other than my car PC setup and the power windows. Even the fuel injection is mechanical.
These cars are cheap, fun to drive and go forever. Although someday it will be nice to get a new car when the funds allow.

I actually brought the PC into the house, opened the case, hooked it up and it ran fine. Put it back in the car and it ran fine.

I think the problem was the little adapter plate for the 2.5 HD.
I think it vibrated lose a little.

Everything seems to be working fine now.

I've had problems with VW electronics. This peice of **** jetta (2004 GL) decided to die on me and my friend at 11pm in beverly hills. The ******* shift release would not work, and you could not shift out of park Worst part is that it broke under warrantly. That shouldn't happen.

So yeh... I guess I still haven't gotten aorund to releasing the sources

My wife had a 2000 GL auto, it had 100K miles on it we never spent a dime on that car (maybe we are lucky), traded it in for a 04 land rover discovery, which is big $.

No problem, on the source, I still haven't gotten around to the SAPI samples yet, too busy!

I think VW and Audi electronics are either full working or fully problamatic. I've heard people not having a single problem with their A4, and others I've heard complaining that they are in the shop atleast once in 3 months. The jetta that decided to die didn't even have 25k on it. It was female driven, and never abused. So there shouldn't have been a reason for the engine management to malfunction. Basically some light, like ECL or something popped up, and the shift lock automatically engaged. I wouldn't have cared that much, but that was the night when I had to wake up at 5am to drive 6 hours to Berkeley.
