The jetta that decided to die didn't even have 25k on it. It was female driven, and never abused. So there shouldn't have been a reason for the engine management to malfunction. Basically some light, like ECL or something popped up, and the shift lock automatically engaged. I wouldn't have cared that much, but that was the night when I had to wake up at 5am to drive 6 hours to Berkeley.
Yeah, people tend to go based on their experiences.

I'm not a big toyota or honda fan, because my wife had a 91 corrolla before the jetta, and it was nothing but problem after problem, and the car was the most basic car I have ever seen. We dropped a lot of money into the crap box.

My Uncle had a prelude, and the engine had to be replaced.

So far from experience, I have had 5 VWs and no issues.
The Land Rover is a sweet vehicle, but it has already been in the shop like 3 times so they could figure out why the damn cd changer wouldn't work.
I think in that case it was an incompetant service staff.

    Oh well.

Nothing is cooler than having your car talk to you though.

I was wondering the same thing. Would be pretty cool to have Homer Simpson give you directions or anyone for that matter other than the standard ig voice. I am suprised that I couldn't find anything other than this post regarding this subject.
