Yeah, I have 2 24" monitors on my desktop, and they can benefit from the Leap controller too. Maybe I should go ahead and preorder another one, while the preordering is still going on.. Somebody Stop Me!

I know that feeling, I'm also tempted to get a second unit to keep for my 24" desktop (only have a 19" for the second monitor) -If I can't stop myself there's not much I can say to help you stop either!

Hi, there are a lot of videos out there but none that I could find showed this straight (simple) touch screen mode. I've seen a number of posts on Leap forums with this question asked of the Manufacture and apparently they are going to post a video. I'm still searching but real data and tech specs are scare until the API and SDK are finalised sometime early this year. They say both SDK and API doc will be available to anyone who purchases the Unit.

Dang - here I was thinking I could scavenge my nephew's old LEAP pad !

But I am elated by comments re safety (thanks rray!) - though I don't believe in 'always' having 2 hands on the wheel. (In fact I once argued tests should be done with a single hand on the steering wheel, but that was from rallying manual vehicles before all this techno (remote or button shift) crap hit - one hand was always on the stick when drifting! At other times it was occupied punching sense into the navigator, or - as per nowadays - the punching sense female occupant in the passenger seat.)

Alas for decades I've preferred voice control else 'targeting' type controls (as used in fighter panes and other fast reaction systems) and have never wanted touch screen or other non relief devices to control stuff - except for maintenance and interrogation etc. I've even considered running an amp to I can use a knobby EQ for my HU!
But I'm too psst at the moment to drive (legally) so I guess I shouldn't write either.
    Cheers.

I have mine sitting on the desktop unplugged. It was a gee whiz fun toy to play with, but it did nothing to change the precision required to be useful.

Example: to type the letter a on a computer, your finger must precisely depress the letter a on your keyboard. Not the letters q, w, s, z, Shift, or Caps Lock, all keys in the vincinity of the letter a.

So what happens is you have to move your hand to the same relative space in free air to initiate a repeatable function like hitting the next or previous track button on your front end screen. Try doing that while driving, and you are all over the screen, making all kinds of random crap happen.

It's fun to finger paint on your screen with the finger painting app though!

Could you not use the Leap Motion controller for executing commands? For example, the action of turning a knob turns up and down the volume?
