Yes you could use the leap for actions like turning a knob, but you would have to write the app or front end software to utilize it. They are fairly cheap, and fun to play with. It's just that there are still easier ways to do stuff like using a Griffin Powermate for volume control, and a touchscreen.

My car is too bouncy while driving for minority report type controls though, unless I figured out a way to make my whole windshield into a heads up screen. I do have a specially coated HUD windshield, which can reflect my phone, the cars HUD, and a flat screen off the windshield if I get to that point in the hobby someday.

It's a fun curiosity toy, but you will grow weary of the wave offerings, and go back to the relaxed keyboard and mouse.

That sounds like a good use for it. Needs USB3.0 to run.

They had one at school for testing purposes. I don't believe it needs a USB3 to run? If it does is it due to power consumption?

I played with it some but it was not very versatile. It did work but was very temperamental. Not something you will want to use in your car. You also had to be right in its sweet spot. There are some newer pieces that are MUCH better. Even the newest Microsoft stuff is way better.

For $20 it might be worth it to play with but you will want to have a touch pad or something else.
