Lightbulb New prerelease and new skin 800x600( pic )

Just wanted to show the skin for 800x600 screen( 'deepsea' skin variation ).
I will release this skin and fixes for most of the bugs of the previous version tonight. Linux version will be available as well.
800x600 skin has it own features, simpler and more usable layout( I hope ).

Yahooooo!!! I've been wanting to try this one out on my gentoo linux box for some time. Could you provide instructions on getting pycar up and running on linux. I tried the previous cd release and it would not boot on my system..

    Thanks for sharing your work.

Just curious, hows that XM functionality coming? Also, know of any good tutorials for doing the embedded linux on a flash disk install? I'd love to try it but haven't got a clue as to how to go about doing it...

I'm not sure when I have time to implement XM. I have it working at home but still a long way to go...
I used freevix and freepia bundles to build my install. There is no general approach though. Try search google. I saw some links the other day. Can't recover them now. Sorry.

I noticed on the download for pycar that theres an iso? Is that what I think it is? If so does it include touchscreen drivers for lilliput?

    Here we go !
    https://sourceforge.net/project/show...ckage_id=89980

I'll post screenshots tomorrow as well as how to install on Linux.
There is only 1 skin included( 800x600 ). 1024x576 downloadable separate along with logos.
Skins should be placed to pycar/skins folder.
Logos should be placed to pycar/skins/deepsea folder.
Just run configure.py or configure.exe to change skins and settings/logos.

    Enjoy !

How hard would it be to install after the OS is on flash? Is it pretty much just like installing any other driver on linux? Or would there be special steps?

Well. I know that at least some calibration will be needed. Also it depends on what device you're using it. Since I'm using DirectFB, it may not work out of the box. On X it should be no problem.

    Jbors,

I'm not a programmer so correct me if I'm wrong here...

I have been playing around with Linux and a touchscreen LCD for the last couple of months and it seems that the kernel module (2.6 that is) touchkitusb communicates between the hardware and the event interface (this needs to be compiled into the kernel or as a module) to feed information to /dev/input/event<X> and report things like button presses and touch position. The event interface also seems to handle information from other input devices as well. It seems that your software could read information directly from this device and act accordingly without the need to create a "driver"... or maybe I'm not using the word driver correctly. Is this a difficult thing to implement.

On a slightly different note, I would like to see the FM radio portion of your software implemented, so much so, that I am thinking of taking up python and seeing if I could write a simple program to change stations and then maybe doing something as ambitious contributing a piece of code... But first I need to get your code working on my machine.

Anyhow, thanks for the great work. I'm going to try to get pycar running tonight and do a bit of testing. Hope you don't mind if I ping you if I need some help.
