Thread: New Skin Concept- Like?

Dont have a download ready yet... but it shouldnt be hard to finish considering how few screens carpal has so far . I havent started doin any of the .xmls either. Spose i can work on some of that stuff today

Some Notes/Questions:

-where's the documentation i've got buttons without commands
-why arent the title and artist set until a media button is pressed?
-are font types user definable at this point?
-playlist background settable/transparent?

i wont be able to work on this anymore til wednesday at best (more teeth yanking) but all the screens follow the same pattern essentially

V0.34 will have a couple new screens:

PlaylistEditor for editing playlists. Buttons like "move song up" and "move song down" among other things.
FileBrowser for browsing through and selecting files. currently used for adding multiple files to your playlist.
ConfirmationBox to get a Yes/No answer to a question (like Are you sure you want to overwrite the previous playlist?)
An OSK
HD Radio Window, though the plugin is not fully functional yet you can tune to a station and get info like StationName, Artist, and Title. It will soon (V0.35?) have presets as well.
iGuidance window this is a window to allow embedding of iguidance, and also control via Tidder's plugin of iguidance itself.

i've got an HD radio skin started. Do you plan on having a preset list (like the playlist), or preset buttons? I personally prefer the latter. Spose i better throw iguidance back on my system to test it.

Lets start with buttons, I can have a list as an option once I make lists more flexable. Right now list types are hardcoded (musiclist, playlist-list, filelist). I managed to get labels unhardcoded, listboxes are next.

To answer some of your other questions:

Tidder and I have a wiki up for documentation, we're working on getting it more populated before we release it.

When you load a playlist title and artist aren't set because you haven't actually loaded a song, just a list. %% stuff no longer shows up, it's just blank if there's no value. I accidentally fixed that while working om something else.

Fonts are not atm user defineable, only fontsize and color. It's an easy fix, and it'll be there for V0.35 (V0.34 is locked in and I'm currently doing debugging before releasing it)
playlist background color is settable in the skin file, I'll play around see if I can get it to be transparent for V0.35.


I notice you have a scroll bar. I'd like your input on how that would be best skinned. Would you prefer to have an image of the entire scroll bar (say 35x400 pixels), and I just "chop" it up for the different "scroll" locations? Or would you prefer a single image for the scroller (say 35x100 pixels) and it moves depending on where in the list you are?


Same question for volume and media seek bar.

i've only seen it with multiple images so i wouldnt know which of those options would be better. Only problem i see with chopping is its gonna have to process very fast to appear like its sliding and not choppy.

Shoulda came to our last meet. A guy was giving away free parts. and a grabbed a nice dell "case" which turned out to be a full PC with a 3.2 ghz p4 & 2gig of Ram!
