Hey all, I have had my pc in and working fine for about 8 months now. Just last week I ran into a random problem that I cant seem to figure out. I had not changed anything when this problem came about. All of a sudden, my XM wont work. When I start up the PC it loads RR fine and the previous mp3 starts playing. Then when I click the XM it goes to the screen and shows the channel lineup, but no sound. If I try to change the channel, it starts playing the mp3s again and the channel changes to the mp3's title. Now to get even weirder....if I minimize RR, then XM will start playing over top of the mp3 that is playing. Then I can't maximize RR again, it just stays in the taskbar. When I restart windows, the XM starts playing right as windows starts to load (like when the logon sound would play), but then as RR starts up (I have it set to start when windows does) the xm will go away and the mp3s will start playing. Like I said,I had not changed any settings when it started doing this. I have tried to re-install roadrunner and update to the latest, but it does the same thing. I have the XM on COM1 and using a modulator to the line-in on the mobo...Im so confused

Check the line to mute/unmute in RRConfig -- it should be set to line-in, then while RR is closed, make sure that line in the windows mixer it is MUTE.. if anything, make sure you have the latest RR version cause this doesn't seem like something that could happen on any of the latest releases.

Can you please set mapmastervol=0 (right now it's -1).. then try again ? I would double check what you have running in the background..

tried changing the mastervolmap to 0, but it made no difference. I tried hitting the reload on the xm screen and now nothing at all shows up for the xm. before it would at least show me the channel list. The only thing I run in the background is a port splitter for my gps.

this is very weird.. Have you tried any other XM software ? (to verify your device works)
If it works with other software, please do this:
-download the xmcache.ini file from RoadRunnerBinary.zip (on my site) -- place it over the one in RR's folder
-download the PortMon application from Sysinternals.com
-Run PortMon and set it to monitor COM1 (where your XM is) -- (Capture->Ports Menu)
-Set it to Display Hex and Show time (Options Menu)
-Minimize it
-Launch RR
-Wait 5 seconds
-Go into the XM screen
-Exit RR
-go back to portmon, save the debug file, zip it and post here

woohoo...I figured it out. It was a wire broken loose inside the serial connector. The thing that threw me was the fact that I would get sound, but only when RR was minimized, making me think it was a software issue. I found it by testing continuity in the cable. Thanks for the help. Oh, on a side note...what exactly does the 'Reload' button do? When I hit it, it clears the channel list and like 5 channels show back up. I thought maybe it would just reload the playlist, but it only does like 5-10 channels.
