Strange characters suddenly showing up in music names...

Iceman, i did not start new thread.. nope.
and as i am learning flash a little more everyday, what i was referring to seems a prety difficult job.
As i said, there is no way to do it right as VB has trouble with Unicode. (by the way winamp itself had Unicode issues until the late years).

By using a TAG EDIT software you can retag thousand of mp3's in minutes, you can either use TAG SCANNER which will remove the unicode from id3v2, (and then you can use id3v2) or you can select in rrconfig id3v1 (which by default has no unicode in it)
really this is the solution besides rewritting RR in C#

I dont want to retag all my MP3's, but more importantly, I dont know which ones I NEED to retag until they show up in RR with bad characters.

retag everything and you will be fine, just be carefull not to remove the tags

I hopefully have made a "fix" for this issue.. if someone with lots of "messed up" tags wants to try a beta, let me know -- I could use some feedback.

I have alot of mp3s with wrong characters, when using ID3V2. I could try your beta, if you want.

send a beta my way to then, only got 31Gb of music that has some strange characters in the beginning since I "fixed" all my taggs this summer...

for all who want the beta, it works great for mp3s and gets rid of the bad tags problem. havent try ogg or wma etc.

sorry but i'm still not sure how to fix this. you said we can either choose id3v1 in RR config, OR do the retagging, right?

I will try the rr config first. as of right now, I only have one album with the strange characters.

i assume you are mentioning to just retagg with editors in case we want to keep the longer list names, etc. right?
