Flash Problems.... Flash Problems... and MORE Flash Problems!!!!!!!

here is something that I found out.

I don't have a 100% problem now. My flash work great .

I had installed version 8 and I downloaded and installed the new version Flash player.

If I run some flash things the menu for one might say it is version 9.
But, I have some that will run the flash and the menu said version 8 .

Does the Flash able it have 2 versions installed at the same time?
Like, run the 9 and still have the older version to be backward compatible?

Or is that a menu that is included when you create the flash apps?

I agree with you for the most part -- there is definitely something about RoadRunner that doesn't handle the Flash applets / skin files properly. But until a solution is proposed, can you help us out with a temporary fix?

Here's one thing that drives me nuts:
Freedom 2.1 works pretty well with Flash 8; except for showing PNGs and the ability to change the colors in the skin on the fly, it's flawless. That was good enough for me.
Now, I installed Flash 9 to test drive Freedom Ultimate in my car (basically it doesn't work with 8), and it was working OK -- just a bit too buggy to use as the main front-end skin for now. So I switched back to v2.1, and whatdayaknow, the intro screen itself (where the little light beam runs across from left to right) would work at the speed of one-frame-per-second! Needless to say my CPU was 100% use. I'm sure switching back to Flash 8 would resolve most of those issues again, but there has got to be another fix out there!

Please, help find it.

This is exactly what I am talking about. You are a seasoned user, that has even written plugin's for Road Runner, and you are having issues with flash!

There seems to be no "exact" fix that will work 100% of the time for everyone. It is a matter of installing flash, uninstalling flash, trying the procedure in the FAQ's on renaming OCX's ect. It is a royal pain in the you know what, and is an all around nightmare, especially with for new users. ALL of the posts with the "White Box", "CPU at 100%" "Road Runner Freezes up", "Skin locks my computer", "Skin stays on main menu, and does not respond" (Talking hundreds of posts) are 100% flash problems.

Don't get me wrong here, I am not in any way running down Road Runner. It is still IMHO the best front end available.....PERIOD. On the other hand, this is a major problem with Road Runner, that, as mentioned, has been brought up again, and again, and again, and has never been corrected.

i actually was tired of having my cpu at 100% so i installed the shockwave plugin (candystand.com) and loaded it up, since they both share some comon files i figured someone might have this on their machine and this might make it run faster...little did i know...now instead of my cpu flucuating from mid 80's - 100 it now doenst go below 96%...and thats without an animated flash background for the FSR skin. So instead of having a somewhat nice and slow moving front end...it's just total lagggggg i'm trying to install flash 8.0 and see how roadrunner reacts.... =-(

EDIT: Nothing worked...i just restored back to an earlier date...guess i'll just have to live with it around the 80-100 mark... <sigh>

I had the 100% flash problem with my older laptop...NEVER figured out why, only thing that helped was turning down the hardware accelerator one notch.
In the end just ended up upgrading my laptop. I really never found one solution as to WHY that happens.... and I'm pretty decent with flash to understand how it works. I think its just a bug with certain machines.

Wow, this post has resurrected itself from the past, meaning someone has definitely used the forum search correctly when running into a problem.... or a case of someone answering a post / question from 5 months ago

I agree with moahdid 100%, in that that is seems to be pretty system specific. The best, and quickest fix, that I have found at least, is to use INTERNET EXPLORER and go to www.adobe.com, and click on the "get flash player". This will install the latest flash system files, and most of the time fix any rr issues.

(Installing Flash with Opera, Firefox or other browsers will just install the plugin for that browser, and not the system files that RR uses)

i think i would be the one to blame for that, i have read countless pages and i have done sooo many different search strings trying to fix this stupid issue, i've even read all 52 pages of the freedom 2.1 thread, but i just don't seem to find a fix for it, everytime i install the via drivers cpu goes to 100% when using flash, but with generic windows drivers flash works great, but the problem is that when i use the generic drivers video won't play right, the refresh rate will be all messed up.

Well i never had the CPU 100% useage problem untill i updated to the newer ver of RR. Ever since i have this prob of 100% useage. and having a hi end comp sys is no sol i think. i am using 2,6 Ghz ,,, 1GB ram and still fro some reason now my system slows down and hangs up ( have to use A+C+D to reboot )

So i guess there is some issue with RR newer version + flash......
But WOULD STILL LIKE to use RR + DFx skin for SURE

ofcourse waiting for the flash prob to be resolved
