Sorting problem with RR
I'm using the latest RR (although this problem exists in the previous release too). And I'm using WinXP SP2, and I'm using winamp 5.x
Now I know there is this thread: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/road...mp-issues.html
It's all fine and dandy that RR sorts by filename, which is what I want actually. The problem is that when you import a directory that contains some other directories, the files are mostly sorted by directory and then mostly sorted by filename.
For example:
Music
Albums
Bobs Band Album Song 1.mp3
Bobs Band Album Song 1.mp3
Bobs Band Album Song 3.mp3
Smashing Pumpkins Awesome Album Song 1.mp3
Smashing Pumpkins Awesome Album Song 2.mp3
Smashing Pumpkins Awesome Album Song 3.mp3
Non-Albums
Smashing Pumpkins Awesome Random Song 1.mp3
Smashing Pumpkins Awesome Random Song 2.mp3
Smashing Pumpkins Awesome Random Song 3.mp3
Load up the directory "Music" with the +1 button in the playlist in RR
We now have a playlist that looks like this :(
Smashing Pumpkins Awesome Album Song 1.mp3
Smashing Pumpkins Awesome Album Song 2.mp3
Smashing Pumpkins Awesome Album Song 3.mp3
Bobs Band Album Song 1.mp3
Bobs Band Album Song 1.mp3
Bobs Band Album Song 3.mp3
Smashing Pumpkins Awesome Random Song 1.mp3
Smashing Pumpkins Awesome Random Song 2.mp3
Smashing Pumpkins Awesome Random Song 3.mp3
This makes finding songs incredibly painful when you have a few thousand in the list that are "mostly" sorted. I wind up with a list where I have 500 songs all sorted a-z, and then it starts all over again with the a's, and then jumps to g's and then jumps to b's and then start's over with a's again
My config file can be found at:

The file structure should have looked like this:
Code:
Music
Albums
Bobs Band Album Song 1.mp3
Bobs Band Album Song 1.mp3
Bobs Band Album Song 3.mp3
Smashing Pumpkins Awesome Album Song 1.mp3
Smashing Pumpkins Awesome Album Song 2.mp3
Smashing Pumpkins Awesome Album Song 3.mp3
Non-Albums
Smashing Pumpkins Awesome Random Song 1.mp3
Smashing Pumpkins Awesome Random Song 2.mp3
Smashing Pumpkins Awesome Random Song 3.mp3

the +1 works off winamp's loading structure.. RR doesn't go onto the folders by itself to look for anything.. it tells winamp to do it.. so there's not much I can do about it..

Hmm, that's a bummer. Would it be possible to do a dde call (or whatever is used these days) to tell winamp to sort it's list and then refresh rr accordingly?

it's possible to send commands to the winamp playlist by simulating keypresses.. some skins use this to do random and such. Then you can use the reloadlist command to refresh RR's playlist accordingly. Do a search or check out the CFX or Chuck's skin.. both of which use of such.
