Displaying IBUS information on RR

After reading many posts on this forum to get a working front end, I have have a few questions that don't seem to have been already asked/answered on these pages... Hence my first post

I have a working system in my car (an E46), and following the advice posted here as well as the software/plugins made available (hats off to all the coders/developers, you guys are geniuses

), have managed to get the rr front end working and sending/receiving ibus code using the Resler hardware and iBusRR.

This is working great, and I can control the pc from the steering wheel controls and also drop the windows, etc from RR. However, all this added functionality has made me more curious...

Is it possible to display car information (or rather, information contained within specific messages) such as consumption, average speed, range, etc on a RR skin?

Although most of this info is displayed on the display below the speedo, there were a few things on the old stereo (the basic radio navigation package) which are not now available.

I would appreciate if anyone has a solution or can point me in the right direction.

I know some have done it the other way around, RR data to the iBus display.

Look for posts by Darthtater, Sama and I think Zebel.

But not sure what is feasible the other way, It would sure be nice to get info out of ther iBus rather than just being able to send it.

Also look at yahoo group hacktheibus.

What you say confirms what I suspected... The ibus plugin is geared up to send messages out, but doesn't seem to deal with incoming info apart from emulating key presses (PREV, NEXT, etc)... I just hope someone's gonna tell me that's not true.

PS Great work with the iDrive skins, you must have spent a long time producing these, and the hard work shows! Now, come on you reds...

Well... If I understand this correctly, you can have IBusRR listen to almost everything on the IBUS and act on it accordingly ...
You could send anything to the IBUS (hex codes) and parse the replies...

That is what I'm hoping anyway, and so far has my experimentation been successful. The next BIG issue (for ME anyway) is to be able to ask for GPS position on the IBUS and forward it to RR.

I'm also curious if the "ProcessEvent=Enable" RTS-> HIGH is stripped out from IBusComm in the "IbusRR" version???

Could anyone verify this?
