What I found is, RR doesn't actually use MPC on my system - it uses Windows Media Player!

So try to play a video in WMP, turn the volume up in WMP using its slider, and try again in RR. This fixed the problem for me.

    Thanks.
Hmmmm, maybe that would explain why I didn't see mpc in the task list.
Can't wait to try this when I get home. This problem has been driving me nuts!

Thanks in advance to all who have responded with ideas...

Didn't work for me. When I opened the video in WMP the volume slider was around 50%, I increased it to full but the volume was still very low, about the same level as the same video is in RR. When I opened it in MPC I looked around in the audio properites. I'm going to see if there is something along those lines in the ini file.

I had this as a problem also. what you need to do is change how RR controls the volume. I think default is is set to control all, you want it to only control the master volume or wave output. I am at work now and cant tell you exactly how it is, but that is the jist of what I did.

So far this seems to be the best way to go. It kinda works but sounds like crap. There is gain in MPC which works fine outside of RR but seems to have no effect in RR. I deleted the MPC.ini and the mediaplayerc.ini, restarted MPC out of RR and adjusted the gain and had it save a new ini. Then opened it in RR and it was back to the same volume problem, but works fine standalone.

Going into AC3Filter and raising the gain to about 16 works but sounds awful. Also made sure it is set to 2 speaker/stereo output.

I have now tried this in the car. I changed the master gain in AC3Filter to 11. I left all the other gains to "0", now video actually seems to be a louder then music. I also set RR volume control to Master Volume.

I kinda have the same problem but on my situation only the rear speakers have sound and no sound at all in the front speakers during movie/dvd playback, but all speakers works when using for music.

Are you using a headunit? If so it sounds like you have front going to the back, back to the front. In MPC and in AC3Filter you can adjust the output to 2/0 - Stereo. Which takes the 5.1 input and changes it to 2 speaker stereo. In AC3Filter you can also change the gains per speaker. You could move it down for the rears and up for the front.

FINALLY! Almost got everything working right but at least I got the volume taken care of.

All I did was get rid of media player classic and the ini's (moved them to a temp location just in case) and then downloaded Media Player 11. After it installed, I went thru and changed all the settings to the highest volume (sound device, etc.). I rebooted the machine just to be safe and then played my test file, Aerosmiths Sweet Emotion mpg and the movie Fast and The Furious avi, and both played. Previously both played outside of Road Runner correctly but only F&F played within RR but couldn't hear the volume. When I got inside RR, the F&F played perfectly at the same level as my mp3's...PERFECT! NOW the weird thing. For some reason, it can play the Sweet Emotion video (.mpg) perfectly outside of RR but when I try it inside, it continually skips over it like it doesn't;t know how to decode it. In fact, there are 4 or 5 .mpg's that it skips over but plays perfect outside of RR. I have no clue why but at least I am making head way.

Hopefully we can get this stuff worked out together. Thanks.
