have you tried updating your codecs? The one that I always use and always seems to work perfectly is klite basic. What program is being used to play the files outside and inside of rr?

RR has its own mpc.ini file that needs to be modified if you change any setting in media player classic. This ini file is the configuration file that rr uses when media player classic is use instead of the built in player. The ini file that saves your media player classic settings is named mplayerc.ini. When changing settings in media player classic, you have to copy the parameters in mplayerc.ini and replace the old parameters in mpc.ini with it. If you don't, changed settings in media player classic will not show in rr and will revert media player classic to whatever the previous setting were.

I really appreciate you taking the time to explain this.
I tried everything and no go. No matter what I try, Media Player 11 or Media Player Classic, the same thing happens. All the video files play correctly outside of RR but once inside, it doesn't know how to play many of them. I can see 1 video trying to load, it tries for about 3 seconds and then it moves to the next, tries to load that one (obviously trying to figure out how to decode it) for about 3 seconds and will move to the next one until it "finds" one it can play. It has to be some weird setting in one of the ini files.

What are you using to play videos within RR? Could I ask a huge favor? Could you zip up your video (player) ini files and send them to me? I'd love to see why yours works and mine doesn't.

    My email is [email protected]

Really appreciate it. I'm trying to get my system finalized and installed by this weekend and I have wasted at least 4 days on this already.

    Thanks again

    Hi,

Make sure the files are really what they are.

Like if you download things via P2P, some people like to rename MKV or OGG files to AVI for some reasons.

Appreciate the response but I am slightly confused. Why would that make a difference if it plays ok outside of RR? I would understand if it never played correctly but all the files play perfect outside of RR, only inside does it screw up.

On a side note, just for the hell of it, I changed the extension to every known video extension and no difference.

    Ok, just to make sure.

    1. What program are you using outside of rr to play your files?

    2. Are you sure you are using media player classic instead of the built in player for rr? This can be configured in rrconfig. The built in player is not media player classic.

    3. What is the path of media player classic that you defined in rrrconfig?

If all of your files play outside of rr, I will asume that you have all your codecs installed correctly.

    Finally!

Finally I got everything working. Whoever suggested using the CCCP codecs, I owe you a big one.

I went to the CCCP site (http://www.cccp-project.net/), downloaded their codecs, installed, and pointed the path to MPC to theirs and viola, EVERYTHING worked perfectly. The volume is correct and so far, every file that failed before runs perfect.

Thanks to all that responded with suggestions and I hope this will help others that are having the same problem.
