    photoshop question

It seems that alot of people are using adobe photoshop when building/modifying screens. Unfortunately, I can't afford it right now. Is there any software available that I could use for working with some screens that is cheap/free?

    thanks

you may be able to find old versions of ps on ebay really cheap, for basic stuff even a really old version would do the trick, sorry, don't know of any freeware that can compare to ps really, maybe someone else knows of something

dig around on sourceforge.net. They've got all sorts of free open-source software. I'm sure there's something like photoshop on there

The Gimp maybe, PS is still better IMO though.

try inkscape. Its a really good open source vector based drawing application. Gimp is the closest thing to photoshop thats free.

    Gimp

I also recommend Gimp, it is an open source graphics programs, that is very much like Photoshop. It will even open files saved with Photoshop.

The program has most of the same features, and works very similar to Photoshop, but is 100% FREE.

Personally I found adobe & other photo software to be too cumbersome for me so I use powerpoint. (perhaps the creative side of my brain doesnt work, just like my wife suggests)

Since the car PC screen I use is only 7" and in a convertible, I dont do a lot of detailed photo work. I want the buttons to be big & bright with good contrast ratios between the labels & the screen. That way I can see them if the top is down and the sun hits the screen.

So perhaps you can get a cheap/free copy of powerpoint and that will work for you as an alternative to the photo editors....

    Just my 2 cents....
