    Home to car setup

I'm using frodoplayer right now simply because it was easy to set up. I'm thinking of running RR because it looks great. But I'm unable to bring my carpc into the house right now. How hard would it be to set up RR with my laptop and then transfer that setup into the carpc? What all do I have to do?

Hi,That'll work as long as your music/video/winamp/skin paths are the same and you have the other basics such as up to date flash and codecs installed and you re reg server the required (if any) Dll's.

It should be as simple as copy and past, then re run the RRConfig app and adjust your paths if needed.

Why not just do all the configuring in your car?

Hahaha Forget that! I would much rather sit here with a standard Keyboard and mouse and a 26" screen, than try to deal with a 7" screen in the car LOL!

Actually, that is exactly how I do it now. I do everything on the desktop PC, then just copy the entire RR folder over to the car. The only problem I had was that my Media is on drive K: here in the house. I just changed my Drive letter for drive D: in the car to drive K: and all works perfectly.

If you don't know how to change a drive letter, just right click on my computer icon, choose manage, choose disks, and select one, right click and choose change drive letter.

One other thing, for the initial install, use W3bMasters RR installer to install Road Runner for the first time in the car. That will make sure that all the DLL's, OCX's and such are registered.

I do something similar, I have all my comps - car, house, and work - map Drive 'G' as the music drive. 'My Music' on the home machine is on the 'X' drive, but I used 'Map Network Drive' to create a new 'G' drive and all works well.

it's too hot outside (day or night) where i live to sit there and configure RR. i don't want to keep my car idle and ac running for too long so i'd much rather stay inside and tinker with stuff. plus what johnwpb said.
