I tried decompiling the SWF with SoftLink's SWF decompiler, with no success. The code get's messed up in the process.

I was really hoping to make the display area larger, and possibly add some keyboard shortcuts to it

there is no true swf decompiler... the code is way too complexed to decode. Course if someone knows something different let me know!

Yea, its a hit and miss thing for sure. Some things decompile well, and others do not. It is just a matter of what commands and such and how they are used I guess.

I think i found a way to center the map on a particular location. For example:

    http://image.weather.com/web/flash/F...teOnStart=true

How can I use this url format inside the interactive weather screen on DifitalFX

    basically you can change
    size
    zoom
    position
    radar or satellite

    http://image.weather.com/web/flash/F...teOnStart=true

    FMMain.swf?&lat=18.15&long=-66.3&viewPortWidth=600&viewPortHeight=400&initialW eatherLayerType=radar&initialZoomLevel=6&wxAnimate OnStart=true

So if I read this correctly, we can have an interactive flash weathermap and use the above commands to load/reload the flash with the specified options. So all I need to do is create buttons which reload the same screen and different calls to the flash website. This is looking really promising. I have been using the animated stationary maps in my skins for some time, but if I ever go outside my area their pretty worthless. Keep it up guys I can't wait to be able to add this to my weather arsenal.

then you'd have to keep relaunching the application and it would look quite ugly. remember this will be a 2 step process.. first you'll have to download the map with those parameters changed.. then you'd have to embed it and "un"-embed the previous map. I could make a script that checks rr's lat and long and apply those variables to the map before downloading. But i have no idea how you would do something like change the zoom points. I guess the script could download all (or most) zoom points then add buttons to the skin to load different ones. This would be the tricky part though.

In digitalFX 2.5 theres already a copy of this swf. In the weather screen theres an interactive button that brings up the interactive map.
First thing I wanted to do is to center it on my "HOME". Using that url I posted I can pass arbitrary coordinates to center it on a specific place when opening. The other thing you can do is change the default size to fit your screen size.
All this should be easy to do by modifying the weather screen definition. I haven't tried yet so if anyone gets it to work please let me know.

(if this is a hijack please split the tread)

This seems to be most of the way there. Can anyone tell me the steps in unloading the .swf? Although the position and zoom works the auto animate does not.

The map in DigitalFX looks great, if... you can handle 800x600 resolution, as soon as you drop it to 600x480 you encounter the original problem.

I worked on this a little last night and I'm using the RR web browser for it and its not bad. I get all the buttons and legend for the webpage and can size it to my skin embed area - looks clean. Takes a little longer than an imbedded swf. One click and go. This weekend I'll work on the RR variables from locate.

I wish it would work with the WEBPLUGIN but I keep getting a Runtime error.
