    add debugmode=true to RR.INI... run it, standby/resume (causing it to go to the audio player right?) then post a ZIP of your Debug log file from RR's folder.

    I think I've had a breakthrough. The problem only occurs when gammacontrol is set to switch RoadRunner. My theory, (and please understand that all this skinning stuff is very new to me) is that the skin's ExecTbl.ini is being executed every time Gammacontrol sends its day/night control command, which it apparently is doing on everytime on Resume. And then in the skin's ExecTbl.ini file is this line:

    "ONSKINSTART","SETVAR;NIGHT;0||SETVAR;SNIGHT;0||RU N;$skinpath$DNSwitch.exe||AUDIO"

    I completely removed the "||RUN;$skinpath$DNSwitch.exe||AUDIO" part of the line, and it appears to have fixed my problem, I think.

    I would really appreciate it if someone more knowledgeable could confirm this, or explain it, or tell me I'm nuts. I do have the Roadrunner Debug file, and I'll post it here if it will still help.

    Thanks.

    Well.....poop. Put it in the car and problem is not fixed. Not sure what the difference is between living room and car, other than a touchscreen. And now I've got a new even stranger problem. I did an IG3 theme.ini file in order to improve the levels of roads displayed, and it works great until the gammacontrol kicks in to dim the screen, and then all the nice new details roads disappear, instantly and permanently, until I restart IG3, and not becuase the screen just dimmed too much. Just not my day with the carputer. I guess I'm going to have to really learn this stuff.

    That: ||AUDIO bit is what "should" be causing it, but if you say not using gamma control "fixes it" -- How about you try something like GammaPanel or Built-In Gamma ??

    It most definitely has to do with something GammaControl is sending to RR.. That's why I asked for a debug log -- so I could see what's causing it. I don't know much about GammaControl honestly, but looking at the debug log I could have a bettter idea of where the AUDIO command is coming from.

    Yeah the AUDIO bit will do it, but it shouldn't do it on a resume as it is in the ONSKINSTART, however if gamma control is telling RoadRunner to reloadskin then that would cause it.

    Sounds to me that on resume gamma control is detecting that it needs to change to the opposite skin (day/night) so therefore sends a reloadskin skin command.

    Didn't have much time tonight, but I did a little testing. Gammacontrol is definitely generating the problem, and only when it's set to switch day/night skins. The reason I use it is I love the nighttime fade out, lat/lon day/night change and the easy config. I'm thinking maybe I can use it just for the fade function, and use the RR built in for the skin change. I also figure out the wierd disappearing roads in IG3, and it was just my vehicle monitor. Different settings from the laptop monitor that I test with, and the way gammacontrol works it starts out with the normal settings before it switches to the dim and fade settings.

    While I was at it, I loaded the latest RR version. Well now I can't get anything to play in the audio player. Plays fine in winamp outside RR, but I just cannot get anything to play in RR.

    I'm thinking it's time to dump Vista and start over. I think I've got a plan that will perserve my warranty.

    Unfortunately, I forgot to get the debug loaded over here where I can email it. Will this weekend before I start the whole thing over.

    Thanks again for the help. Oh, and I'm curious if there are ever any CarPC meets in the Lexington KY area? I noticed Guino is in that area, and I drive throught there twice a week (and will tommorow) Just curious.

    you register the winamp.dll to fix the audio problem?

    And yes it is time to dump vista. I cant believe anyone even thinks it is a good idea for in the car. (yet).

    scottgs, because that audio command is set to run on a ONSKINSTART, if when you resume the time of day is different such that a skin change is necessary, then yes that command will run, because a new skin has started.

    Just remove the ||AUDIO from that line, however then it will just go to the menu and still not what screen you were in when you resumed.
