Change Main Menu Setting?

Hi guys,

I've searched and couldn't come up with the answer, maybe I didn't use the right search term. Anyhow, I was wondering if it is possible for me to change what is on the main menu...currently RR have Music, Radio, Video, DVD, Sat Radio, GPS, etc on the main menu. I don't have Radio, Sat Radio or DVD. I was wondering if it is possible for me to change those buttons to Weather, Gasoline, Traffic Cam or whatever other plugins I choose.

What skin are you using?

I'm using DigitalFX 2.0 skin, the 2.5 version.

Okay, it seems like I'm able to change the link location by editing the Menu.skin file. For example, I was able to change the "Radio" button to link me to the "Weather" plugin. Now, if I want to change the word "Radio" to "Weather" I would have to edit the menu picture file right? I hope that makes sense.

Update: I just tried to edit the menu.jpg files but its not working...hmm

If you want to change the actual button name that's display you would really need the PSD's which I don't believe JohnWPB will release, therefore you can try best efforts with the jpgs.

However I believe John plans to make the buttons have labels as name which will then allow you to customise more.

To add to Enforcer's comments, you also have to be sure you're editing the right files. DFX uses several menu screens. The ones you want to edit are in the subdirectory "C:\Program Files\Road Runner\Skins\DigitalFX 2.0\Menus\[dir]. There are five subdirectories there that contain the base menu png and skin files. If those aren't the one you change - as soon as you change the skin settings all your changes will be erased.

Yea, I am sorry, but I am not going to release the PSD's for the DigitalFX skin.. Dare I say "Freedom skin"! I am not alone in this, as I know 4 other skinners off the top of my head that are also not releasing the PSD's for their skins.

when I get time, I am going to attempt to make all of the main menu buttons dynamic. Press and hold them to change to what you want. This is a long ways down the road, as it is a major undertaking code wise, as well as the 6 subdirectories of menu files to do as well! It also involves changing all 12 PSD's for the main menu's. So again, this will prob be a couple months away at best.

In the mean time, I may try to put together a PNG file, with all of the main menu bar's empty, so someone could use their own icons and text ect.

NO, DON'T DO IT! I use press and hold for other functions. How about menu.txt files ala Freedoom; Makes changing everything easier.
