Weather Icons and Flash

Hi everyone. I'm finishing my skin and I've made the weather skin fully in flash. It works and looks great, but I can't find a way to show the weather icons. I'm referering to the "wicon", "w0dayicon" and "w0nighticon", that appear as indicators in the skin.

Is there a way roadrunner can show these indicators above flash?

Or is it my only chance to read myweather.xml and load ALL the icons into my swf?? (no please!)

You have a few options there..

1-You can split your flash object into multiple ones, leaving the indicator areas uncovered so you RR can display the indicators as usual
2-You can poll RR to get the paths for the used icons (you'd have to do that via SDK, or I can add you an indicator request code for flash)
3-You can load the myweather.XML file (that RR downloads for you) and pull out the icons you want from there..

Thinking of it, they're all relatively easy, but let me know if you want me to add commands to request the path to the indicator icons..

Hahaha I bet if you add the indicators, you may stand a better chance of being introduced to some of his "friends" LOL!

hehhehe the one in the avatar is my g/f so she's being discarded..

however i have some nice friends que se ponen muito malucas por os brasileiros!

back in subject.. thought of doing number 2 or 3 but got complicated when tried to come up with some way to dynamicaly import a gif with transparency into a flash movie...(cannot be done, it allows only swf's and jpg's) which finally led me to having to load every icon into the movie and convert them to a Movie symbol... :S .. kind of a boring task..

the path of the icon displayed is polled from myweather.xml (tough what really matters is the name only)

I also noticed that resizing an image inside flash looks AWFUL! unless you apply a filter..(maybe because I'm sort of a flash newbie)

so.. I'm giving out my .fla to save anyone from a painfull task.. and that would make a 100% flash weather skin.

and guino, the indicator would do! It would make unnecessary to load the XML.. and a room for u to stay when you come to visit my friends
