Problem with RR (started with Digital FX) (Freezing, music still plays)

Working on my first install here, so I hope you will forgive me for lack of knowledge.

I am having a similar problem as BIGGKATT01 at the moment, where RR will simply freeze. This has occurred at different times and on different windows so far. Since the problem I am having seems broader than his, I am making a new thread, if the fix is the same, please feel free to beat me upside the head (;

Updated both RR and Digital FX to newest versions I've found. (Used RR's auto updater, and downloaded DFX)
Downgraded to Winamp 5.13 (to fix a problem with no audio using 5.5 when using DFX, 5.13 has worked like a charm)
Downloaded Flash (I may not have gone to www.adobe.com and done the flash install earlier)(this appears to have fixed the constant crashes when trying to change the skin color, but has not had any effect on the other crashes)
Checked both picspath and background path, they are both set to the skin's background's folder.

I will go check if it crashes at all on the default skin. It did not before (but I have made numerous changes attempting to get this skin to work). When it freezes, music will continue, but no input is accepted via the touchscreen. I can do a CTRL+ALT+DEL to open the task manager, kill RR (which seems to end Winamp as well, since music cuts out here), and restart RR with no problems.


If I am missing any obvious solutions (or a help file that discusses this issue) I apologize and would appreciate a pointer in the right direction.

(Update: freeze is happening in default skin as well, and out of 2 freezes, one time win amp kept playing after CTRL+ALT+DEL, second time winamp stopped playing, but all icons on the desktop were hidden/missing, and mouse cursor was not visible (though I could still click with the mouse, if that makes sense))

I've had similar problems the last couple of days. It has happened with 2 different skins, shock v4 and hemi day. I do have DFX installed but do not use it much so I don't know if that is what is causing the problem.
It's very random and happens on different screens. RR will crash, not freeze, and the microsoft send error screen pops up. This happens with out me even touching the screen. Winamp will continue to play music, the icons and taskbar remain hidden. I can click the start button area and restart RR and it will restart while winamp continues to play and pick up where ever winamp is.
I have not checked the error log yet to see what is causing it.

I turned on debug mode, but out of impatience (and trying to isolate the problem), I un-installed RR and all other RR related mods, and have begun reinstalling them. So far I have RR, the updated config, and a few skins loaded (Avicted, default, and a couple i have not actually used yet, just placed the files in the skins folder). So far, I am crash free. In a bit I am going to go out and install DFX to see if the problems pop up again.

(Will also see if I can find the debug file and will post it jic it has any answers.)

Well i have the same problem. RR freezes and no inputs are accepted. Music continues and i have to use A+C+D combi to kill RR and restart...Also at times the music starts to hang and at this point the COMP reboots on its own.....

Now I hope the fix ( delete ziplocator.dll ) works. But can u pls explain as to how this will work... Oh BTW i have the GAS button disabled already and yet all these things happen....

Any suggestions and help PLS

So far it has, though I should be honest and say that in addition to deleting that file I did a complete re-installation, and have had no crashes.

so deleted ziplocator.dll also and I haven't had any crashes in the last 2 days. before deleting it i was getting 3-4 crashes

Guino, do you know why this was causing the crashes?

That DLL was made by a user who had issues with the built-in locate function.. it's been included in the install but I only recommend using it IF you have issues with the built in function. I'm assuming it requires various C++ runtime files and may behave differently based on that, and on what is in the Zips.dat file.
