    Getting information from OBDII software

    Hello, I was wondering if it's possible to capture data from a software and display it on a skin.

    I want to use the OBDII software Enginuity but I have no idea how to do this. Any help?

    The software would have to provide some sort of API/SDK, then something could be written in RR or as a plugin for it.. other than that, you can embed the app.

    From the posted files, he was simply embedding the software in a screen. Nothing new.

    I managed to embed the actual software, but what I want to do is a littel different but it involves the same software. I provided Guino the software, so hopefully he can help us out.

    This seems to work fairly well (enginuity.skin is a copy of external_gps.skin):

    Code:
    "LOAD;Enginuity.skin;Enginuity;C:\Program Files\Enginuity\Enginuity.exe;Enginuity||Wait;3||RUNQ;;Enginuity ECU||ACTIVATE;Enginuity||SENDKEY;%||SENDKEY;LO"
    For better results, I'd suggest playing with 2 screens in RR cause this is an example of a badly written application where the second window is not "parented" by the first one -- which may be nice in some situations (like this one where the second window is resizeable), but awkward in other cases.

    guino, I tried it with your code for launching Enginuity. A couple of questions. First, is there a way to bypass the first screen and launch the second one instead directly into the Logger/Dashboard view. Going a little far here, but would be possible just to have the Dashboard view side of the window open/active without the menu bar or the selection bar on the side? Also, when RR is closed, the Enginuity application doesn't close, it stays open.

    if you want, try what i use in my skin, really easy to set up, and is ready to go, the main sofware is OBD-DIAG(skinnable, with a lot of work). not sure if is similar to what you looking for. just another option. the link is my signature "SOME TOOLS"
