make sure you are outside when trying to get a signal. also, if this is the first time ever you start the gps receiver, sometimes, it can take up to 10 mins to get a signal.

i agree, it take s a while for the signal, about 15-20 min, when you first use it. That was the case with my mio. after that it captures the signal really fast. Hope all goes well.

I know this is an old thread, but I am having a similar problem. I have the Pharos GPS-360 from MS streets and trips and I am trying to use it with Iguidance 4. The drivers are installed and windows says the device is working properly, but when I try to find the device in Iguidance I have no luck. It keeps telling me there is no GPS device found. Any ideas? I have the com port set to 5 and I have tried baud rates of 4800 and 9600. Thanks for the help!

Actually the Microsoft GPS 360 (Re-branded Pharos GPS) is pretty robust. I usually get around 6-8 satellites with it hooked up to my PC here for testing. (single story home)

Make sure you use the drivers that are on the Streets and Trips CD, as I have found that ones from MS or Pharos I couldn't get to work and was a royal pain! With the GPS plugged in, open system properties, hardware, device manager and expand the Com ports tree. Unplug the GPS and wait a couple seconds, and plug it in, noting what com port disappeared and reappeared. You now know for certain the com port to use in iGuidance. Just to get it up and running, Run iG stand alone, and not start Road Runner just to narrow down any conflicts, and make sure you can get it working. Then you can start using and setting up a com port splitter such as Xport.

Hey guys! So I ran Xport and set the receiver to port 2. I searched for devices in Iguidance and was able to find it on port 2 with a baud rate of 4800. however, its still not picking up any satellites. Everything is red in the satellite status screen. Any ideas? Is the receiver bad or is something? I waited for about 10 minutes with a direct sky view and still wasn't able to find any satellites. Thanks for all the help guys!

I think S&T is OK but iGuidance needs a 1 digit COM port number. If you had it on say COM15 it would cut off the 2nd digit so it would be COM1 the next time.
