RR & iGuidance 4.0

Hi,

I'm using iGuidance 3.01 and RR for the last 6 months or so, been happy and lowering music playback while voice guidance is active works flawless.

Now I have iGuidance 4.0, will RR work as it does before? Can I just install iGuidance on top of version 3.01? Reason is I want to preserve all address book and history data.

Your help is much appreciated.

From what I've read, I'd leave iGuidance 4.0 on the shelf.

But that's my opinion.

My experience is it works just like IG3 inside RR. The volume is lowered and the screen switches back and forth no problem.

The main difference i see is the improved voice guidance and updated maps; if you don't need/want that, then don't bother (IMO).

I did fresh install so i'm not sure if it will install on top of IG3

Thank you, I'd like to get updated maps. I'll make an image of my current setup before I upgrade. The current set up is running just perfect so I'd hate to ruin that.

What sort of issues with IG4?

I had no issues whatsoever updating from ig3 to ig4. The music lowering worked as well as the screen switching as soon as I installed it with no setup changes needed.

The gas price finder will not work until the coordinates are reshacked back in, such was the case with ig3 as well though. For those trying to "get something for nothing" this .exe will NOT work without the iG4 maps, as it is not backwards compatible. It also has to have a registration code, that matches your machine code, entered for it to work. The reshacked version is available on johnwpb.com

There are 4 main advantages of switching to ig4 from ig3:

1) Updated maps

2) More POI's, (Ig3 had 1 million, ig4 has 4 million)

3) Full text to speech for directions. (This was the deciding factor for me personally) I just sounds so much better than the canned .wav files, and having the street names and such spoken is really nice!

4) Single continuous map of North America. No more having to switch states and such. You can plot a course from New York to L.A. if you want.

am i the only one thats having this strange bug with rr and ig4... it will be working just fine at one point.. then it'll speak a set of directions and my wav level will bounce up and down.. then leaving the gps screen will send me back to the gps screen and this process will repeat until i manually close iguidance. Its the most annoying bug i've ever seen.

what do you mean by it has to have a registration code that matches my machine code? downloading that patch would fix my problem?

because right now, the problem im having is that i can run iguidance 4 just fine, and i can run rr just find no problems. im also using your skin, digitalfx. but while using your skin, and turning on iguidance, im getting problems. the map will show on there and i can go through the screens, but my arrow will show up as white. meaning, it cant locate me and tell me where to go from where im at. im not losing signal, because when i go to gps stats, it shows my speed, alt, etc. then when i close rr, it works just fine again. they just wont work in unison for some reason.

so when i download it, what do i do with it? where do i put it?
