took a stab at my first skin - help

So I made a menu.skin for my carpc. Just for my needs basically and style, and eliminated all the things that I didn't want or need at this time. When I load it in the skin editor it looks great and seems to function the way I will want it. I tried just loading it up using roadrunner and the skin can barely be seen b/c it is so transparent. Looks just like a shadow on my desktop. I change the skin back to simplistique and it is visible just fine. Where am I going wrong??

Sounds to me you need to set your picture path to the skin your using. The picture has to be in the skin you made in a folder named backgrounds.

I created the skin using Road Runner Skin Editor. I did not use the virtual editor, I used the RR Skin Editor. Valheru I will post what I have in my main.skin according to the virtual editor - I am guessing that is what you are wanting.

    MEDIACAR Skin
    MEDIACAR menu_off.jpg Skin
    menu_off.jpg,menu_off.jpg,menu_on.jpg,menu_down.jp g
    Audio,1,151,268,79,"VIDEO",

    /, L, x, y, w, h, color R;RGB, G, B, font size;FONT, font name, Code;LABELCODES, Tooltip;LABELALIGNMENT
    L,399,10,65,33,254,242,52,36,"Agency FB","REMAININGTRACKTIME","CENTER"
    Track,26,10,350,33,254,242,52,36,"Agency FB","AUDIOTRACK","SCROLL-LEFT"
    Day/Night,164,424,54,55,"DAYNIGHTSKIN",
    Mute,100,423,51,52,"MUTE",
    Power,35,426,51,49,"QUIT",
    Phone,3,340,269,76,,
    DVD,3,245,246,81,"DVD",
    Video,2,59,309,77,"AUDIO",

    END

I have done a menu.skin - Audio_Player.skin - Audio_Browser.skin. all of these skins and their respected .jpg files are in a folder in the RR Skins folder.

I am waiting to do more skins b/c these aren't working so far.

Again when I open roadrunner my screen dims a little bit, and I can see the red ball but I cannot see the actual screens/skins.

Fantamos, I looked through the other skins that I have - Symplistique and BV2 and I do not see a folder that says backgrounds and such. I am clueless to what you are suggesting I do, can you explain further?

any and all help will be appreciated.

your menu.skin is setup wrong, take a good look at skin Commands.txt, or compare yours to BMV2.
if you use jpg theres no need for the background setting.
    Code:
    MEDIACAR Skin
    MEDIACAR menu Skin
    menu_off.jpg,menu_off.jpg,menu_on.jpg,menu_down.jpg

    /, L, x, y, w, h, color R;RGB, G, B, font size;FONT, font name, Code;LABELCODES, Tooltip;LABELALIGNMENT
    L,399,10,65,33,254,242,52,36,"Agency FB","REMAININGTRACKTIME","CENTER"
    L,26,10,350,33,254,242,52,36,"Agency FB","TRACKTIME","SCROLL-LEFT"

    /, B, x, y, w, h, Command;COMMANDCODES, Tooltip
    B,164,424,54,55,"DAYNIGHTSKIN",
    B,100,423,51,52,"MUTE",
    B,35,426,51,49,"QUIT",
    B,3,340,269,76,,
    B,3,245,246,81,"DVD",
    B,2,59,309,77,"AUDIO",
    B,1,151,268,79,"VIDEO",

    END

I think I got it figured out... my first mistake was when I created a skin, instead of just naming it I tried to make the menu_off.jpg the skin. I'm sorry I wasted your guys's time with this silly question - but now I think I have another silly question

When I load up roadrunner is the screen suppose to darken a little or is there a setting I can mess around with to prevent this?

Thanks again - everyone has been great!

look in the simplistique skin and you can see that all graphics are saved as .png file. only .gif and .png files could be transparent.

if you work with photoshop and you make a new screen, a mask helps you to selec the screen in transparent mode.

the menu_off.jpg file in a folder of transparent screens is only for the preview in your skin_browser.
