    How to I close all embedded apps (without exiting RR)?

    Hi,

    Is there a standalone command that will close all embeded/external apps, just like what happens when you exit RR, but without actually having to close RR

    I want to run this command prior to hibernation to reduce the memory usage and hibernation filesize.

    you could use the "reloadskin" command and it will exit all embedded apps but keep RR open.

    Only downside to using that cmd is that you would loose any preloaded screens.

    And Id have to wait for the Fade-in and startup sounds/sequences.
    Is there any cleaner or more specific command?
    How does RR do it according to "Close all embedded apps on exit" on RR config?

    (This question is tying in with my other thread about hibernating. I want to free up as much mem/resources as possible before hibernating, so that resuming isnt too CPU intensive. Resuming with voicecontrol running seems to choke my 512MB - 2.2Ghz C2Duo for a few seconds on resume - and sometimes crash it, even though there is only ~280MB memory in use. Being able to kill/load voicecontrol separate to RR would be even better actually!!)

    You can use the ONSUSPEND command in your exectbl.ini file to kill applications.

    "ONSUSPEND","CLOSEWINDOW;iGuidance||CLOSEWINDOW;What ever Name"
    that will close all your external application running.
    Then you can use the ONRESUME command to start them up again.

    I want to run this command prior to [HL]hibernation to reduce the[/HL] memory usage and [HL]hibernation filesize[/HL].

    Closing you embedded apps before hibernation will NOT reduce the hibernation filesize.

    The hibernation filesize is always the same as the amount of memory you have in the the PC.

    It may possibly reduce the amount of pagefile thatis used, but that won't affect boot up time.

    thanks but that was not the purpose of me doing so... my nav soft for some odd reason will not detect my gps puck upon resuming unless it is closed before hibernation. Also I embedding an game emulator but it will not close when I exit from the screen (I want it to close when I switch to a different screen in RR.)

    There is a CloseWindow command in Road runner.

    From the SKinCommands.txt:

    "CLOSEWINDOW" - This allows you to close any running application based on the given window title. The application may request the user to save any unsaved data before closing, so beware.

    Example: "CLOSEWINDOW;Notepad"
    With the above, you can create a entry in the exectbl.ini something like this:

    "CloseAllApps","CLOSEWINDOW;WinAmp||CLOSEWINDO W;iGuidance"

    In the above example, there are just 2 apps to close. You can append as many as you want on that command.

    Then on your EXIT button in the skin, you could use "QUIT||CloseAllApps"
    Front End of Choice: Ride Runner (Is there anything else??? ) & Powered by the DFX5.1 Skin Available in the Mobile App Mart
