    Wired is recommended

Price shouldn't be the main factor in the decision. The main difference in these units is Bluetooth (BT-338) vs. wired USB (BU-353). The BT is more convenient to move from car to car or even carry with you to use with a PDA. But the wired units are better for single car use where you install it and then it just works without a fuss every time you start the car. That is why the BU-353 is more popular on this site.

nice.. excellent points Jimmy... I had my eyes on BU, but used BT came out with a good price.. i thought i would ask before i jump on it... ^^ i like the idea of wireless, but i also found out it take some time to get it going as it needs to establish communication between the devices...

Also the BT would need separate power or intermittent recharging.

From the somewhat small BT use I've had, it's great for phones, sucks on PCs.

i got my bu353 in yesaterday, got a hacked (supposed to be) copy of iguidance v4 and M$ S & M 08. the copy of iguidance isnt a cracked copy, so i had to move onto M$. the M$ one is cool, i just dont see it as carputer compatable. it worked on my laptop, but it still is going to get some getting used to. ive seen lists of free gps software, but i just dont know how those would work for displaying maps.

i guess im going to need to pay for a copy of iguidance. but ive only seen it online. are there any commercial stores out there that will sell it on hand?
