    embedding frustration

    Ok I'm getting really frustrated trying to get an application to embed. I have searched and searched and tried whatever I can find but I must just suck at this. I am currently trying out the dfx3 skin and trying to change the radio button on the menu to launch an engine management app. I finally got it to launch the app but it doesn't embed and if go into the menu and back to the app it starts up another instance of the program. Anyone have some spare time they could help me getting it going or any ideas?

    To be able to help better, I would need the full path to the application, as well as the window title of the program.

    It is launching multiple instances as RR has not been told to embed it, and therefore does not know that it is open when hitting the button the 2nd time.

    You may be able to put together the command you need with the following example of how to load Destinator into a skin:

    Code:
    "Load;DESTINATOR_7.skin;destinator;C:\Program Files\Destinator\destinator.exe;destinator"
    The 2 "destinator" items in bold, are the name of the window, so RR knows how to get ahold of it an embed it.

    You will then need a skin with an application area. In the DigitalFX folder, you can copy the Google_Earth.skin and rename to match your application name, such as engine_management.skin, and replace that at the beginning of the line above.

    I did use the winspector to get the windon name and I used the full path. I also did use the google_earth.skin because I liked the way it looked with the winamp buttons still at the bottom of the screen. The problem I was having with the digitalfx skin is the way the layout in the .ini files. So when I was looking to just change like the path of a button or the label everythings kind of confusing. I also tried putting that line with the Load in the section that sais embed external applications, then went into config and did the add embedded app. Then I went into digital fx and clicked and held on the button to switch it to the app I wanted and it still does the same thing. Sorry for being such a newb. This is the line I have under embed external application right now.

    the Skin, ini is not the file you want to change, that just remembers you selections so they will show when Road Runner and the skin is loaded.

    Open the Exectbli, ini in the skin folder. It is confusing I know

    Look for the section that says "Dynamic Menu Buttons. It has to be added to all three sections below that header. It is commented, and hopefully you will be able to figure it out.

    Add something like the following line to the section that looks like this:
    Code:
    "MyApp48","Load;uti.skin;UTI-3 BETA-4:Brought to you by JeffSoftware.com;C:\Program Files\JeffSoftware.com\UTI-3 BETA-4\UTI.exe;UTI-3 BETA-4:Brought to you by JeffSoftware.com"
    The other 2 sections are what is displayed when you go to the screen that has all of the choices, and the one with the name in all CAPS is the name that will appear on the button.

    Ok just went through and added that stuff to my .ini file but still won't embed. Do I need to put anything specific in the skin file I copied to use for it? Can I send you my ini file?

    if you have the path correct and the window name correct as well, i dont see why is not embedding, if RR is not finding the window open, it opens the program again, so the code works like this;

    "LOAD;YOUR SCREEN.SKIN;TEXT TO SPEECH;EXECUTABLES PATH;WINDOW NAME"
