Verbal Directions Question

How does roadrunner know to mute or lower the volume of the music when there are verbal directions? Is there some sort of trigger or something. I'm trying to figure out if I can use the trigger or work off of however its done and write some sort of program that can do the same thing on a mac running iGuidance with fusion.

RR monitors the wave line and if you have iG vol set like one notch below the max then it(iG) changes the wave line while speaking and returns it to the before setting after its done speaking. Basically when the wave line changes RR assumes that iG is speaking and executes the according cmd (if the RR opt is turned on), that is how RR is coded to know.
