If it is I that you are refering to..... You got it wrong

First off, "OP" is not what I would concider myself, just a simple moderator. Helping to keep the forums free of spam, duplicate posts, abusive behavior and the like.

Secondly, I am not "running away" from anything. I have an open mind, and people can use whatever they want, and thus the ability that Guino has created external plugins to handle different players. I just personally do not see or understand the need for Foobar, VLC, and the like for audio/video. The older version of winamp that is recommended (2.95 or 5.13 if you want transparent visualizations), has a very small footprint and it is never seen in the first place. RR just uses it as a backend. (The last time I actually saw winamp on my screen was like 8 months ago when I was setting up the visualization preferences and such). Using Winamp allows browsing of music, playlists, a huge selection of visualizations, streaming radio stations and the ability to see just about all of the iD3 tags embedded in the files.

As far as video, Winamp is not used as it lacks the ability to change the ratio of the video, thus stretching out the video to fit the screen when embedded in RR. MPC allows you to switch from letterbox, 6:9, wide screen ect ect. Thats is why MPC is used instead, and when MPC is set up correctly, it works seamlessly in RR. On my setup MPC handles all of my video files, (Xvid, Divx, Real Media, Quicktime, Flash video ect) as well as DVD's with working root and title & chapter menu's. Plus the ability of the time bar to jump to any spot in the video instantly.

So....... aside from the above mentioned features, what do the other players offer that Winamp and MPC don't? There has to be something I am missing, as I have never used them, so ultimately, I am currious.

JohnWPB: The letters "OP" mean 'original poster', and refer to upspace, not you.

    LOL John.

The guys above have explained what I meant well enough so I won't poke fun.
Upspace is very conspicuous by his absence is all.

What did you think OP meant BTW?

I think the OP was just making a blanket statement like some other people have regarding guino's absence as of late....

Even though nothing has come out officially for RR in some time, I still find myself tweaking bits and piece here and there. The foundation is laid out there, now go make it behave how you want
