Thread: 09/09/08 OFFICIAL MJS Road Runner Release

Ok something on topic: Not sure why, but if I add a song (through the +1 icon on BMV2) it plays all work fine, I can switch back and forth between Sirius and it is all ok. Now, when I go into suspend (havent tried cold boot or restart RR, will though) the song will magically disappear.

It removes itself from the now playing part of RR, and of course song title/artist is blank since it is gone. Of course I can add it again, but basically it reverts to an old playlist every sleep session... Ideas?

And Off Topic: Lets leave the country specific praise/bashing to a minimum. This is a world forum.

I think we're all very lucky (non coders that is) to have smart people working on our beloved RR,no but's about that.

The "but" comes i think from everyone's frustration that lately each release has been one step forward and half a step back,i think a new dependency at this time was just gonna antagonize some people when all they want is what was working once working again.

I mean,Didn't all the plugins play nice before?
Those without source are now lost forever.

Not sure about that one mitch,
Lot's of satnav sdk's about with .net examples,always has been,no one has a clue!
Unless you or another .net pro is taking over the lead on RR i think it's likely to stay a fringe software round here.

My procedure is... start car engine running, push button wake pc, by that time the radio is fully powered. RR has no control over the Tuner.
Shut down is put PC into standby, once it is off, I turn the Engine off. On the next restart, same thing, no control and I have to restart RR. No big deal to me, but I am not ripping my dash apart again and rewire everything. For me, it should not make any difference where the darn thing gets it's power, as long it has power befor the PC starts. Maybe a standby issue.

mgd, i cant follow what you're saying

the bottom line is, if you want your PC to control the HD Radio, the HD Radio must be fully powered when the PC is to talk to it.

if the pc is trying to talk to the HD Radio, and the HD Radio losses its power, its gonna time hang at hibernation.

With this release the weather is working again.. but my slider bar for music does not work and I am still missing the GPS indicator in John's DFX4 skin.. is this related to plugins that need to be updated?

some plugins non-compliant to this release cause problems with sliders, disable your plugins and see if the slider problem goes away

Since it (the HD dll) is written in .net now, can't you trap the event gone, and if it goes away, send a psuedo message to RR that thinks it is still there, but no data, and in the dll trap the reconnect and pass real info again? I dont know how you have written it, but it should just be 2 event handlers...

And for my new problem, I think it is new to this release... I did have to switch from "RoadRunner" to "Road Runner" directory, so perhaps I need to update the winamp dll registration... off to the forums!

My bad Mitch, I thought when you select RADIOMODE=0 that it turns off all radio functions. I have no problem adding with adding HDRADIOPORT=0 to rr.ini.

My radio always has power befor the PC wakes up.

no they didnt. Plugins miscommunicated with RR in there indicator function. One non-compliant line of code in ONE indicator would make it so that ALL indicators didnt function in ALL plugins. This is a problem we've had for almost a year now. Now, its fixed, and anyone that uses plugins or plans to EVER use plugins should be dancing on rooftops IMHO. It doesnt make much sense to say every thing should be plugin based but say the current broken interface should be kept.

So here we are at what i believe is square one. Mitch is working on a new build that will NOT have guino's fixes. And all because mitch took xm/radio OUT of the source and made it plugins lol.
