I have to agree with mitch on this one.


I am currently testing on BMV2 and that is exactly what is happening.

hover over button, on image shows (ie blue glow in BMV2)

press button, down image shows (ie the reflection on button goes from top to bottom)

let go button off image shows (hmm, shouldn't that be on seeing as the mouse is still on it?? maybe that's how it's always been)

Well then whoever made the 27/05/08 build broke it. I have not looked at the code, but it had been working. If the code was "wrong wrong wrong" I doubt guino would release it for everyone.

I think I was using the April 2007 version... I think the one right after making it winamp independant. And it worked. So take the code from April 2007 and put it in there. If it is the same, then obviously something else made it "wrong wrong wrong".

And I have exposed the windows audio mixers through dll calls much as I assume RoadRunner does, and there are explicit calls you make to set or get volume of the mixer. So the psuedo code I suggested will work for fade-in. Fade-out just decrement to 0. Dont see what is so cataclysmically incorrect here...

Im very very open to doing things, i worked many hours on this for something I DONT directlu use... I felt bad for you RR users using it with xm/hd/sirius and getting such poor performance...

there are many people here who i have been working with.. who know me and will addtest to my passion

for one thing VOLUME ISNT INPUT, ITS OUTPUT!!!!

the inputs to the mixers, are GAIN level, the OUTPUT to your speakers is WHERE ALL VOLUME CONTROL SHOULD TAKE PLACE... THIS IS BASIC AUDIO
ITS WRONG IN RR!!

AND if ur really using the WINAMP LINE IN PLUG IN FOR ALL SOURCES, IT WORKS
I JUST TESTED IT!!!!

THE MIXER VOLUMES ARNT TOUCHED, ONLY WINAMP VOLUME (STILL WRONG)
but it does work!

also, im using jasper's linein plug for winamp, not petes, and not the native!!!!
big big difference!

I've just searched for a bunch of skins in youtube to see if other users are having this issue, and DFX4, blades edge, and a couple other RECENT skins aren't showing the down image. Could it be transparency related?

here's the way to test. someone who is getting BMV2 to show the down image download my hAv1c+ V3 skin and let me know if the down image reacts the same way.

I won't be at the car computer for another few hours to test this.

monkey, i switched to a Carwings, a simple skin for basic testing its working...
i did a quick dx4 test, seems fine there... the on states are very subtle

Carwings isn't a transparent skin. DFX4 on images work just fine, it's the down images that don't seem to work in ANY of the youtube vids I've seen, except for solid skins.

Well I dont think you are understanding me...

Whatever you call it, the "volume/gian" control in windows varies the amplitude of the noise coming out of the speakers regardless of the "volume/gain" control on your amplifier (car or otherwise).

So you can get this level and set this level through windows API as I am sure you are aware. If you call a get to the level of the volume output, it is now INPUT to your program so you can then set it.

If this was not true, you would have to physically reach for a knob everytime you change your volume. Windows does not put out a constantly gained signal to the soundcard. It multiplies it by an amount that windows calls "volume" in its OS. You can call it the "fluffy bunny variable" for all I care, but it is there, it is exposed through an API and you can get and set it. So if the level of the signal is X, and volume of windows master is 50%, and the volume level of the line is 10%, then you are getting an output to the soundcard of X * 0.5 * 0.1. That simple. Now for fade in out you can do every line by itself, or just mess with the master line. Either way you are incrementing/decrementing the 0.5 or the 0.1 part through API calls and it is all good.

In programming there are many ways to do the same thing. If you say the way RR works is wrong, well ok. But it works for lots of people, so it is not wrong it is just different from what you want. All programmers want and believe their code is the right and only way. Same way here. I see someone do it differently that how I did it, I can argue all day on the benefits of my way over theirs and likewise they can do the same. Either way it does work.

Use or not use RR, you are one of the few with the current source, so we have you and guino to go to.

the down images work fine on my DFX4

and i tried sonicx's skin, its a flash/transparancy skin

wierd that the "fastest and most stable RR skin" crashed YOUR version of RR, and I've had 0 comments on the skin's thread about that.

You are taking the hard way around this. Sonicx's skin is made in flash, and is different. I think it has to do with the way the .png's are called for in rr.
