1. does hdradio pcr work?
2. disable iguidance
Just recently purchased mitchjs HD Radio cable and the recommended HD Radio and I'm unable to get them working together with Road Runner. His standalone software HD Radio PCR works correctly, so this tells me there's nothing wrong hardware wise, just something wrong with my software setting or something to do with software.
My D945GCLF motherboard comes with an onboard COM1 port, so this makes things easy. COM3 is my USB GPS BU-353 receiver, and Xport software takes this and splits it into COM4 and COM10. COM4 is configured for iGuidance use, and COM10 is for Road Runner. I've verified that my RR.ini does not conflict with COM1, and to prove this further if I temporarily disconnect my HD Radio cable and use an OBDI cable on COM1 and OBDI software it works no problems inside Road Runner.
When I start Road Runner it immediately reports "HD Radio could not be found. Check comport settings", and if I click on the HD Radio icon same message appears. This error message puzzles me because there's no com port conflict.
For fun, I edited RR.ini so that gpsport points to a different number and no change as expected.
Sample of my RR.ini
[Radio]
radiomode=8
hdradioport=1
allowallfreqs=false
radioline=6
userbds=true
hdvolume=75
hddebug=true
[GPS]
gpsmode=2
mapmonkeypath=C:\DestinatorApps\Map Monkey\MapMonkey.exe
gpspath=C:\Program Files\iNav\iGuidance\iGuidanceUMPC.exe
gpsname=iGuidance
overspeed=80
gpsport=10
mappointmap=1
mapcountry=United States
mapcity=
mapautozoom=true
isunits=false
usegpsserv=false
gasfinderautorefresh=false
mapvol=50
I included the hddebug=true flag, but I'm not sure where to find the log or if it's included inside the debug.txt file.

1. Yes HD Radio PCR works fine on COM1.
2. As for iGuidance, it's not even loaded when the error message appears. Road Runner reports an error message as soon as it loads up for the first time, this kind of surprised me since I didn't even click on the HD Radio icon yet. Clicking on the HD Radio icon generates the same error message. To make sure there wasn't a com port conflict, I modified RR.ini to reassigning gpsport to another comport, no change.
I'll go look for another skin with HD Radio support to see if there's any change.

Okay this is what I've done so far:
1. Uninstalled iGuidance, tried DFX3.0 skin again no difference.
2. Tried Shock 6.0 skin, no change.
3. Tried mAv1c skin, no change.
This suggests it's not a skin problem because all three of those support HD Radio and iGuidance is not a contributor to the problem.
I'm beginning to wonder if the intel Atom processor is doing something weird. The reason I say this is because the DFX3.0 skin worked flawless on my Celeron 220 processor, however when I switched to this new intel Atom processor, I discovered a weird bug and found a workable solution to it.
So if anyone is using the new intel Atom processor successfully with HD Radio + Road Runner please let me know.
mav1c skin produces a less cluttered debug.txt as attached.
blackstealth, you want a specail build of RR, that will give us much more detail on the HD radio discovery process?
if so, basicly find me on MSN messenger, and ill make you something special

Thanks mitchjs, I'll take your offer. I'll install MSN messenger on my computer and add you as a contact.
Subscribed, I have a new intel D945GCLF "atom" board still in the static bag thats going to be the base for my upgrade. I doubt its an issue with the processor itself, but would be good to know if there is before I start building.
My guess is the USB > Serial GPS puck or Xport is causing conflicts.
My suggestion would be leave iG application installed but remove the GPS puck and make sure Xport is not running in task manager, then try firing it up. After that works, then configure the gps comport settings without Xport. Once the radio and gps program work, then try splitting the GPS port and feeding data to RR and IG. Also, for what its worth, I would split COM 3 to a virtual COM 4 and COM 5. Xport may have a bug where COM 10 actually looks like COM 1 to RR, thus stealing your HDR port. I've seen when setting virtual comports to a double integer ( < 9 ) funny things start to happen. I also know for a fact IG has a bug with using a COM port setting over 9.
Hope this helps![]()
