Issue with either Road Runner or Digital FX - not sure which

This is too hard to search for so I'm opening up a new thread on this:

I've been using RR and Digital FX 3.0 (just recently upgraded to 4.0) and occasionally this happens:

When I hit a button that pops up a window (like the power button where you can choose to Power Off, Restart, Exit, etc - or when you choose to Rate a Song), every so often, the window appears behind the RR main interface. The only way to see it again is to Alt-Tab to bring it back to the front. Without doing that, you can't do anything as the main RR window does not accept any input until that new window is closed. At first I didn't think much of it, but it happens enough that its starting to become frustrating. Mainly for the reason that I don't want to keep a keyboard in my car to have to deal with this - which without one I'm left to having to kill power to reboot the machine.

I don't know if this is skin related or RR related. I was using the 12/13/07 RR exe for the longest time and I replaced that with the one from Sept 08 (I think thats the date) with no change. I've only used Digital FX 3.0 and up until a few days ago, 4.0 - both of those do it. And just to be clear this doesn't always happen. I thought it might be that on these rare occurances that maybe I'm holding the button down too long but when I hit these buttons, but I've been intentionally hitting them quickly to see if that was the case and it doesn't seem to make any difference.

I'm hoping this has been seen before and there's a setting or better workaround. An easy fix would be to force the new window that pops up to always be on top so that an action is required and then the window would disappear.

hmm... actually.. i have the same problem... my best quess is it's RR... i think there's a way to force it using ai... I don't know how... or something like settopmost;{name of app};true who knows.... hope someone has an answer for this..

i have NOT seen this problem ONCE, therefore no "fix" could/would have been done

if you can get it to happen, with reproducible results, maybe something could be done

im gonna take a guess its some AutoIt script running, pulling focus away

switch to a simpler skin, like the default bmv2, does it happen there?

Mitch, I don't think that was meant an attack against you

Someone is just asking if someone else has seen the problem to try to narrow down the cause is all.....

I am not sure if its RR, the DFX skin, or a system problem. I have been working on the dfx skin for close to 2 years, and have yet had this happen here with many different RR versions, and DFX versions as it progresses.

AutoIt should not be able to steal the focus from RR in the way that it is happening. RR is either on top, or it's not. Having a RR window appearing behind a RR window "should" not be possible, so its gonna be hard to narrow down the cause.

The internal Road Runner "Menu" command, should place any newly opened window as the top Road Runner layer that is drawn on the screen.

i know he is not attacking me, but i have seen this problem with another application....
on my system, im just pointing it out, that if he can reproduce it, I will try to reproduce it here, and then try to FIX is

I can't reproduce it at will unfortunately.. it just happens when it happens. Luckily (or unluckily for troubleshooting purposes) it doesn't happen often. I don't know if its the autoit script or not - I haven't made any changes to that file - its the default that came with RR so nothing custom that I did. I'll look into trying a different skin for awhile and see if it happens with it.

I don't have anything special loaded or running in the background - just drivers for the hardware and then RR software and skins. Also FYI, before I got my carPC I tested our RR with Digital FX 3.0 on my laptop with the touchscreen and it happened once or twice there too.

Again I was just running this by everyone to see if it's been seen before - looks like at least one other person besides me has so that's a little reassuring.

I'll do some testing with the default skin and report back.
