Dual Monitor Help (GPS to 2nd display)

I have read through a lot of post and have not found what I am looking for. I have a 350z and have a LCD and a deck with an LCD screen.

I would like the gps screen to be able to show up on the 2nd deck LCD. I already have windows setup to output to it. Using the M12000 Epia board with the intergarated VGA and using the composite for 2nd monitor, this works well.

I can see the extended desktop on the deck. But even with dualmon enabled RR does not take control of the 2nd display. What do I need to do to get the gps screen on the 2nd display, but still be able to switch it on the main one and set directions. I just want to be able to always see the gps screen on the 2nd display while doing other things like music and videos.

I was thinking i would run another instance of iguidance but then it would just show postion and not directions and be hard to control.

Any help is much appreciated. This will be a nice added feature and another way to put the carpc to use.

One way I can think of doing it i to have the skin design double width (or height)

have one screen where the GPS is embedded on the main screen so you can set the route, and another screen where the GPS is embeeded on the other screen and the main screen shows audio info.

Trouble is you won't be able tohave a playlist or other app on show on the main screen while the GPS is on the secondary. (Unless you use something like skinbedder).

I was hoping RR could handle the 2nd display. How does dualmon work then?

windows dual monitor support doesn't work with composite on one screen and VGA on the other with embeded motherboard dual video outputs, unless you have an add on card via AGP, PCI, or PCI-Express to channel the second signal.

Then on a single add on card, multi monitor support is dependent on what connectors are on the added card plus the embeded video out on the motherboard.

Examples are either two DVI's, or two VGA connections. Or MB embedded video out, and a single VGA.

Using a splitter type Y cable simply duplicates what's output from the pc to both monitors. Dual monitor support has no control between the two in that case.

Dualmon allows to to have video still playing whilst also viewing the GPS and any other screens except for audio and radio.

The idea is to have the video overlay play on the second screen whilst having the GPS on the main screen.

i alrready have th compsite out working with the onboard vga. i cant even get video to show on the 2nd one. should i be able to with out doing anything excet enabling dualmon?

imho, you're expecting too much out of that board. What is your CPU utilization percentage while playing video?

I am not sure the CPU utilization, but all I really want it to do is GPS and music. I guess I can use ultramon and use to instances of iguidance if that will work, but not really what i was looking for.

i don't know much about the "composite out" part of your discussion - but there is a usb vga adapter which allows you to connect to a second monitor.

Between the "composite out" and the USB vga - i have a strong feeling your options may differ.

PS: where does one get dualmon - is it a software? or part of RR?
