    Garmin Question in RR

I'd like to use some of the features like Gauges, and festy's mileage plugin, but I don't know how to split the ports..

Mainly because my Garmin device does not show up under comports - its under USB devices. So - I'm not sure how to send that information to RR if there is no port to split.

Does anyone else have Garmin and have this issue?

have a look at the gps section for garmin, im sure i read there that using garmins own gps mouse dose not allow you to use any com splitter, so you may find your flogging a dead horse , but don't take my word for it research the thread, theres alot of chat about com slitting and garmin there

Yeah, I think I just stumbled across that.

Well, I guess I can always add IG in the future and try it out that way... lol

    Thanks for the reply.

You can purchase a USB GPS and use it. I have Garmin and iGuidance and RR running at the same time. You then use XPort3 and any USB GPS receiver that putputs NMEA data. I have used several receivers in different installs and have not had any issues.

What do you mean by this "You can purchase a USB GPS and use it". Did you mean a USB GPS receiver in addition to the one I already have (so I would have 2 GPS receivers)

I already have Garmin (the software/hardware bundle) , but the USB receiver does not show up under comports.

Did you mean just get another USB GPS Reciever like the BU-353 in addition to my Garmin USB reciever (that way, I would not need to buy IG)?

In lieu of the bundled receiver. 1 receiver is all you NEED but you could use 2 if you want. Garmin will accept data from a NMEA compliant receiver that has its data split by Xport to virtual com ports.

Ok, I'll pick up another receiver and try it out. Do you currently have Garmin and IG running off just 1 receiver?

I thought the version of GMPC that comes bundled with the receiver was not capable of using a third party receiver. Is this not the case? I have the unbundled version so I can't check.

i run garmin with a 3rd party reciever , and xport to split the signal.
it has been said that the bundled reciever dose not like com splitters.
