I'm a little late to this party. Have really been focused on other projects for the past few months. But anyway...

Congratulations Guino! I hope you and RideRunner see all the success you deserve. Your software is definitely some of the best there is.
Is it that it's fun? Or that it lets you forget yourself?

I copied files over to the roadrunner folder and replaced, upon closing "riderunner" I get a error roadrunner combatibility .exe, I completely removed roadrunner and riderunner then just installed the riderunner from the website and I still get the same combatibility error.. everything else works great. No problems it just does the error upon exiting. Anyone else have this problem?
Did it.. Done it... now I got to keep the neighbors kids away!!

I'm also a latecomer to the party too, and congratulations on the new venture Guino, my RR install is in an offroad vehicle and with a new Xenarc monitor dying in short order, I am interested to look at this new hardware when it is available. The bouncing in a Jeep testing made me sit up and look.

I don't see that a helper application is required for backwards compatability as this should be built into RiR instead. I've done a bit of work with creating a window that masquerades as another application to embed a particularly cantankerous program into RR. Check out the OziExplorer GPS Embedded thread in my signature.

RiR just needs to open a hidden window with the same name and class as RoR and ferry WM_COPYDATA messages to RiR. I know you guys use COM in VB now and I would have thought the same technique could also be used so the RoR object passes requests to RiR. Perhaps an RR.INI variable to disable backwards compatibility might be nice to cut down on the memory overhead where the hddden window was not required.

I've got some C source I can share if you are interested, just let me know and I'll dig it up and add a few annotations.

Anyway guys, my monitor has been repaired and is on its way back from Xenarc to Australia so this will certainly give me some new enthusiasm for RR when it turns up in a few days. Keep up the good work!

RideRunner already has a hidden "RoadRunner" window to forward mesages (when RoadRunner.exe isn't used), it also makes sure the RoadRunner COM objects still work. You don't exactly "NEED" RoadRunner.exe -- it's just that some SCRIPTS check for the PROCESS NAME (RoadRunner.exe) and this causes them to not work correctly. So the only solution is to create an actual process with that file name, which can be done by code, but it's just as simple to make a separate exe.

There's hardly any overhead in the backwards compatibility (when not using RoadRunner.exe) -- the window is just a static reference/handle with a sub of 5 lines to forward messages to the "RideRunner" window, and the COM objects are just two registry entries (so it uses no memory whatsoever). If you don't use any fancy scripts that check for RoadRunner.exe you can simply delete/rename roadrunner.exe and you will save some memory used for that process, but if some of your script/skin components don't close or run correctly, they it's because they're checking for Roadrunner.exe process and not finding it -- hopefully once those scripts are updated, this roadrunner.exe won't be necessary at all.

Just installed the new RR in my truck and Sirius will not work now.

Was listing to Sirius in RR shutdown RR installed new RR then restarted and no Sirius but xm and radio still works but no Sirius. So I started a real old RR and Sirius works. I believe it has to do with the new SiriusComm.dll because if I start last months RR it will not work ether now and if I unregister the popup comes up. Wished I backed up RR folder so I could see if the older last months SiriusComm.dll still would have worked.

    EDIT
SiriusComm.dll ver. 2.7.0.2 date 7-11-2008 works with last RR but not new RR
SiriusComm.dll ver. 2.8.0.1 date 1-14-2009 not working for me
