Can you point me to the winamp plugin? I'm using the software that came w/ the tuner and its not great. Its a bloated media player, when all i want it to do is use the tuner.

I hear there's a new hauppauge (wintv) diversity tuner out.. haven't searched/looked at much info yet, don't know if it supports USA standards (ATSC).

guino correct me if i am wrong.. but diversity tuners are actually 2 tuners? right? (that is why when somenon uses a diversity tuner in winamp plugin, 2 tuners show up) It is up to the software to combine (and or) chose between the 2 tuners? is it that hard to choose between the best signal of the 2 tuners and display it noise, in digital tv..it must be easier than analog tv

Diversity function means combining more than one tuner signal into one feed for better reception. Can be 2 or more, and can be software combined or hardware, however, the only one I've seen so far (Terratec) is software combined, which means the SOFTWARE (whichever used) has to have support for diversity function. If a hardware diversity function was available, it would allow for pretty much any software (that supports a single tuner) to work with the diversity function, but I haven't seen anything like that yet..

Totally different idea about TV from somebody in Australia where we are using DVB-T and the reception is actually better than the old PAL TV analog signals, but it won't be for everyone.

My Xenarc 706TSA has a DVI digital input, so I am thinking of installing a HD set top box that runs off 12 volts (for caravans etc) and a JL Audio CL-SES audio splitter to insert the audio signal at the Amp and bypassing the PC altogether. I am also planning of fitting an overhead console (which will also hold a head unit) and will probably put the STB up in it so I have access to the controls and IR sensor, but alternatively, if I were to put the STB out of sight and reach you would use a IR remote extender. There is an electronic kit at www.jaycar.com.au that sells for about AUD $25 or so.

The JL gadget auto senses audio signals and includes a level control for each of the 3 outputs so I could make sure the volume levels are similar on each input signal.

Just a thought, but I would not mind betting I end up with a better picture going this dedicated hardware option... Soniq make a range of HD 12 volt STB's, they are hard to find in 12 volt
