    Expiration?

I received a message today to make sure my RR is up to date and it will now exit. Does RR expire?
I set the date back a few days and it does come back up.

Is there a way to prevent this? Im not wanting to upgrade because the one I have works the way I want it to. A lot of things get changed and the skin I used was personalized to my setup. I know things get updated/changed and I really dont want to have to make changes because the software did. It's a real pain trying to update the software in the car.

    Anyone else have/had this issue?

I would assume you're running the 11-15-08 version?

-RoadRunner now will check the date when running: it will not run if your date is set BEFORE its release date, or 4 months PAST it's release date -- I know this is a drag, but this is only to ensure nobody loads it on products for distribution without permission. I'm also here to commit on making a monthly update from now on, even if just to update the version.

I too refuse the expiration, so I use the April 2006 version. Works great, and doesnt have all the "fixes" that mitch put in so it works perfect with volume fade and sirius and everything. No iLists though, but I dont care.

YEs, exactly what I was using. I wanted it because it fixed a few things I had troubles with, and had better XM support. I'll just keep setting my date back if I have to

Don't set it back before 11-15-08 or it won't work.

basicly its saying you need to update your RR, you're of course welcome to use a OLD version, but that dont make any sense to me, the new one is much improved
and i dont even use the thing
    -Thanks

Well, I for my part like the saying "Never change a running system". So when I don't NEED to update I definately try to avoid it. Why install a version which will "expire" after 4 month, when an older version works as it should ?

I really don't like this reminder thingie. I'd rather pay a few bucks to get a version without it. But I understand guino's point.

If only we lived in a perfect world where there was no SW pirating or stealing of others work for one own profit, then there probably would be two released versions; one free w/ 4 month update reminder and the paid one would be w/o that reminder, but.... we all know that unfortunately, that isn't the case....
