    no sweat mitch, maybe guino can chime in with what's involved.....

    the 'discardable' switch is also an option, not as good though, but it crashes my rr...

    if I could get the source I might be able to get this done myself....

    the more 2cent the better blue, any insight into what would be involved would help..

    take a look at my skin (in sig) it's flash component based...totally customizable from file name itself....i've got improved components I'm planning to release soon...


    oh, do you know anything regarding the 'discardable' option, seems to crashh rr for me....

    The Flash ActiveX object provided by Adobe is fairly limited in several aspects. In fact, it gets to be so limited and so slow in some aspects that a user control was built around it to both expand and speed up the processing of flash within the skins, however, this has little effect on full-size flash objects on the screen. Anyway, because of those limitations and VB6 peculiarities it is not really simple to reuse the same object on different screens. Specifically, one of the "limitations" of the Flash object is that once you load a SWF file onto it, there's no way to "unload" it -- other than unload its container or replace it with a different SWF. All I can say is that Flash objects in VB6 tend to behave very differently from flash objects in a web page. It may be worth a try to "MOVE" the object along with it's container between skins in RR, but anything else will be basically fall into the current implementation.

    I'm puzzled however, as to why /discardable isn't working for you.. can you post an example of /discardible that crashes ?

    Guino, it has been know that the "/Discard" opt has caused issues for some time and has yet to be fixed. And because it hasn't been fixed I know that the upper end skin authors have removed it from their skins to prevent its problems..

    And also Y I have it disable in the skin editor.

    Thx for confirming the discardable option Blue, wasn't sure if it was just me...

    and thx guino for chiming in , it does seem to be quite complicated to possibly resolve, a fixed discardable would help, but that "MOVE" option would definately be better

    Guino, Sonic, Mitch and Blue , please try out my new attached skin with new updated flash components and documentation!!!

    This is only scratching the surface!! The possibilities with flash components is kinda like having a desktop with widgets that skinners and users can easily place anywhere...

    they scale nicely, are dynamic, resolution independant, it's just opens up a whole new world for rr users... if more seasoned actionscript deveplopers come on board...look out competition!!

    Am I the only one really exited or interested in this, or do others see the benefit?

    Thx Blue, glad you approve!

    Did you actually use the skin?
    Did it more or less work, and how was your performance?

    I forgot to mention there is a readme.txt in the skin folder explaining the file naming convention...

    As you see, every button and label is an swf file...if the params are the same you can use the same swf, but each skin file must reload the swf..if you monitor your mem usage, it grows quite large as you keep reloading the same media swf files!!

    The play button and the scrub (seek) bar I am particularly fond of, I think they are awesome , simple additions to any skin...

    Look at how docbreezy is struggling with dynamic buttons, with a dynamic flash button one would just rename the file to do what ever one wants...

    On my system things seem to bog down after about 10 skin files of buttons, quite alot , but definately not enough...

    Hoping Guino, and others can help here....
