Be very warning when using that though because it will require that the user must be using this version forward. You could even add a RR date version check in the Class_Initialize call and if older pop up msg box telling user that it requires 4/1/09+ to run. Ya know for those that are still tripping on not using these newer builds...

I run multiple skins with differing plugin requirements. In essence I have every RR plugin available, but only want to load those necessary for each skin. I also don't want to duplicate plugin directories, r.e.,standardization.

QUESTIONS: How do I setup my plugins without duplicating them in the individual skin directories? What directions would you give to potential skin developers to maintain this standardization? Please recap and summarize what other standardization efforts have been accomplished and/or are in the works?

I currently have renamed the TLBINF32.DLL file so no global plugins get loaded and rely on the "x,pluginname" within the MENU.SKIN. That's going backward not forward.

I have a problem with the installer. I wanted to install RR on my Vista64 desktop pc for testing. The setup stops with the error:
"The file couldn't be executed in the temporary folder. Setup has been aborted. Error 5: Access denied".
Tried running it with admin rights and in WinXP SP2 compatibility mode.

The setup runs fine on my WinXP SP3 VirtualPC installation.

gizmo, because most plugins ARE NOT up to any standards, and tend to store their "own data" in the same directory, instead of a user profile directory
that opens issues with duped plugins...

but lets take one that does have any data files...

option #1, put the plug ins that are COMMON to all ur skins... in the global plugin directory...
then any skin specific, in the skin plug in dir...
so what if u have a .dll duped 3 times, no one should be that LOW on disk space
beforewarned... the DLL will LOAD from where it is actually registered from!!!!!!!
and a unique dll can only be registered in one place at any ONE time

why rename tlbinf32.dll, if u dont want any gloabals to load, dont have any plugins in the global plugin directory

    (not mentioning rename .dll trick)

at this point, its very hard to standardize plugins, because people are all over the place already...

the NEWEST RR does now support much more standarization, even where a PLUGIN is susposed to store its data... but i cannot enforce that, so there is just so many holes

course me, prob wouldnt use a plug in that didnt meet the standards...

i dont want to side track (and you/i already did), if u want to talk about this(plugin design standards), since its WAY off topic... lets make a new thread...

you do know, u can enable/disable plugins based on anything too...
    thats a good option

course you might be going outside the box anyway...
    and the box isnt defined
    -Thanks
