Sorting playlist by Title or Artist

I just upgraded my RR installation after leaving it alone for over a year and I have a problem. I have a player skin that sorts my mp3's by title or by filename (artist-title). It's worked for years but now it doesn't since the new version was installed.

To do this, I set the "Title" in Winamp to be %artist%. Then here are two commands I have in my ExecTBL.ini file:

"SORTARTIST","ACTIVATE;Playlist Editor||SENDKEY;^+2||PLFORMAT;%ARTIST% - %TITLE%||RELOADLIST||SETVAR;SORTEDBY;0"
"SORTTITLE","ACTIVATE;Playlist Editor||SENDKEY;^+1||PLFORMAT;%TITLE%||RELOADLIST| |SETVAR;SORTEDBY;1"

My player.skin has a button like this:

B,78,347,82,86,"SORTTITLE||SWITCHBUTTON;5>>SORTART IST||SWITCHBUTTON;5",""

Why would this stop working? When I'm in the Winamp Playlist editor and press shift-ctrl-1 or shift-ctrl-2 it sorts properly. Just that the changed list doesn't show up in RR.

well... i did a sort in winamp, and reloaded the list in rr
and it showed up

make sure u enabled METADATA READING support in winamp

option 1 or 4

now i dont know how to set those key sequences in winamp... dont see any options like that

ALSO for "ACTIVATE;Playlist Editor" you have to be using the CLASSIC SKIN or MODERN

does NOT show up when its in BENTO

I'm using a skin I made myself a couple years ago. What's the specific reason why one skin would work and not others?

and u didnt answer my question, on how to make winamp use that sequence

Ah, yes, I'm using the Classic Winamp screen in version 5.34.
If you're referring to what keyboard commands do the sorting, they've been around for a long time. Maybe newer versions don't do it anymore? They're documented in About Winamp | Keyboard Shortcuts:

Ctrl+Sh+1   Sort Playlist by Title
Ctrl+Sh+2   Sort Playlist by File Name
Ctrl+Sh+3   Sort Playlist by File Path and Name
Ctrl+Sh+R   Randomize Playlist
Ctrl+R         Reverse Playlist

If I highlight the Winamp Playlist and press these keys, they work fine. If I have the Playlist set to show in Winamp, I can see it display for a second when I press the RR command button and it doesn't look like it has changed order. So maybe it's an issue with the sendkey not being received by the playlist editor rather than the refresh not working?

[EDIT:] Hmm, wait a sec... I just noticed that the Winamp playlist window says "WINAMP PLAYLIST" instead of "PLAYLIST EDITOR". Maybe Winamp has changed that heading at some point which would make the ACTIVATE not work! I'll test this and be right back...

damm, im on 5.52 and those keys dont work
i can resort with clicking in there...

i did check the windows names, and PLAYLIST EDITOR is NOT avail, unless in classic...

but that is the problem... the window name, cause when i sort it in winamp, and reloadlist, it works

What I see.. WA v5.31

using wa classic skin,which is the one your supposed to use, Playlist window title is "WINAMP PLAYLIST", but using Modern skin, the win title becomes "PLAYLIST EDITOR"

Thanks for all the help! It's working great now. It WAS the Winamp window title that had changed. I'm very surprised to hear that the sorting keys don't work in 5.52 (why would they take them out?). Have to make a note to never upgrade to that version.
