Changing Indicator variable to another name

Is there a way to re-declare a indicator variable to another name?

I am currently trying to rename a RM_1STAR indicator variable to use something like RM1STAR as the variable.

I also want this variable to update the same way Indicators variables are, without needing to invoke a command to update the value.

I not familier with setvar, byvar commands but they all seem to require some command to invoke the value update where indicators seems to always update.

You can use SETVARBYIND;RM_1STAR;RM1STAR -- this will set a VARIABLE called RM1STAR with the value from the INDICATOR code RM_1STAR. You should not need to have the variable updated automatically or even on any kind of frequency, you just need to update it right before you use the variable for something (with the command above). In any case, you can't update it "automatically" but you can update it on a TIMER if you need it to update a label or something without a command being executed.

Thanks but I got it working without needing to declare a new variable. But BTW I still like to know for future reference on how to declare variables using byvar, setvarby, set and so forth is there a refrence doc somewhere on using ride runner syntax?

Yes, is called "Skin Commands.txt" and should be either located in your RR folder(older installs) or the "Documentation" folder in your RideRunner folder( newer installs).
