Switched to the latest RideRunner and it doesn't have this issue. But it has other issues...![]()
I had RoadRunner running great on Win7 RC but reinstalled with the latest RTM build I could get hold of and it's now broken. I reinstalled flash and winamp and after a hiccup where RR gave the error 'Unexpected error; quitting now' at startup until I'd launched it once as administrator, everything seemed like it was going to work. But when I go to play music in RR, nothing happens. It transfer me back to the music page but the track list remains empty and winamp doesn't start playing anything.
I initially used winamp 2.95 but tried 5.13 (which was what I'd had with the previous Win7 install). Both installs were from installer still sat on the local disk from when I set up Win7RC.
Anyone know what's going on?

Never heard of a "perfect" software... in any case, RR must run with admin rights or some things just won't work, that goes for all: NT, 2000, XP, Vista, Win7...

That isn't the problem here though. The older RoadRunner still wasn't talking to WinAmp even if I ran it as administrator. The newer RideRunner can talk to winamp fine even if I don't run it as administrator. Very wierd.

I also experienced problems after updating to Win 7 RC , It took several re-installs of RR, finally ran the installer in compatibility mode and things seemed to work, same with DFX4. Things are pretty much working now, but a few quirks here and there, considering going back to XP now that there is a new voice recognition plugin.
TruckPC - gutted, being used for test setup
BoatPC - off season - Inelmac screen needs serviced again!
BlazerPC - last vehicle PC I'll build
its not wierd.. its quite logical.. many improvements to RideRunner since, RoadRunner, including communictations to WINAMP
use RideRunner, and all will be fine...
on WIN7/(vista), set up the short cut to run as admin
or turn off UAC
-Thanks

also no need to RUN the RideRunner installer in compatibility mode
its already UAC Aware
now... DXF4, is a messy installer. i prob wouldnt use that...
that skins needs a big time refresh...
prob if u run dxf4's installer as admin, it be ok
-Thanks

True. But this is the exact same build of RoadRunner I was using successfully in the Win7RC install. Although thinking about it I've got a feeling I had this exactly problem when I was first setting it up then. I wish I could remember how I fixed it.
The jury is still out on whether I'll switch to RideRunner. I'd coded up some nice improvements to RoadRunner to work with a custom skin (multiple variations on gps and video skins to enable you to move around in the UI and still see the video/gps and easily get back to the full view). I stopped using it when I needed a bug fix in a newer RoadRunner and found the code structure had change so much that my (somewhat invasive) changes were extremely hard work to port). But I was thinking of maybe starting over and re-adding that support. But that means I'm stuck with the old RoadRunner. Or alternatively I can scrap the fancy picture-in-picture style skin idea and build a new skin idea I've had that I think shouldn't require new support in the exe.
