For Guino and RideRunner developers

hi guino and developers

i propose an additional feature, easy to make, to be add in riderunner commands

a feature that decrease (but not mute) the audio volume (mp3, video, DVD, etc.) (for radio i'm contact whith mitchjs to add all functions and rds commands I made in my plugin for the silabs and complement Roadrunner)

the "softmute" may be useful into two categories of programs
1)when the navigator speaks propts using the voice
2)under programs Telephone (i'm in contact with the author of ". net Bluetooth Mobilephone ...", and told me that the function is useful and that wants to integrate

GPS:
Below is my old videos (the music is awful and the gps demo is set at high speed) is an example to understand how the new commands can be works

in Italy we use the Sygic GPS software, a friend of mine has written an application that intercepts when the GPS "talks" and pass commands to silabs plugin in order to activate / deactivate the softmute
it could be feasible with other GPS navigators

telephone:
if you receive a phone call, you call "softmute_on" command and the sound source to feel again, but at the same time feels distinctly the sound of the phone
at the answer the call would be triggered mute "general"
at the close of the call will be disabled the mute and call the softmute_off command to restore the original volume

it may be useful in other types of programs

plug it into my settings as % of overall volume (in the example above i set it to 25%)
the value of % should be set by the user, it could be put in the rr config

it's clear that we decrease the rr volume and not use the windows mixer, that is because the telephone ringing or the gps voice must be at the normal volume (changing windows mixer value can be decrease the gps or telephone volume)

p.s. sorry if my english is not the best

Currently RR can do it with the SAY command, but of course if another application is already speaking, then there's no way to send a simple command to RR for that -- you CAN use SETVOL, or load a mixer preset, but maybe a simple "ATT" command could work better.

Was this functionality ever added into RR? Would be useful to have an "ATT" command.

Thanks, I have it working with Winamp, but I'm looking for a command that I can use throughout RR, so that if im watching a video that volume can be 'soft muted' as well or when i'm listening to hd radio.

since audio is "unmanaged" in RR, it will be very VERY hard to do this...
audio is managed at times, by winamp, wmp, foobar, itunes, audio capture in a radio module, direct mixer line input... (prob forgetting some)

there is no way to ATT, unless you want to ATTenuate the MASTER volume, which of course would also lower your navigation audio defeating the purpose

unless full management of audio was in play, it is very hard to do any form of stream attenuation. i dont see ANY solution to this, other than a concept rewrite of RR, and that is prob out of scope

thats why if you use, winamp, a program can be made to ATTN winamp.. but if ur listening to radio... well then its what? is it a line in volume change (IF hw supported)?
is it a capture volume change? too many options, hense unmanaged audio
-Thanks

ATTenuation % of master volume is possible... but that would be ALL audio from the pc

Just a suggestion

I'm using navmute with sygic and it works well
Exectbl is set to PAUSE on NAVPAUSE , And PLAY on NAVRESUME

You can create a script ( never got really into rr scripting ) that just attenuate/pause/mute based on active source
Shouldn't be a lot of work..
