Not really, I don't consider a corvette a good analogy to XP, a corvette would be more like a really fast linux distro. It's more like saying:

I bought a ford explorer. (run of the mill, common American product) The tires blew out on the freeway and it careened off the road into a tree. Should this be recalled? (true story, like service packs!)

My opinion is not biased either, I use a custom built winXP install in my truck successfully, it's tweaked to run good on SSD. However I am an advanced user, windows XP does not stand a chance against an inexperienced user, it's well known and proven.

You're entirely missing the point. the tires blowing out from a manufacturer defect and crashing into a tree because you're an idiot are two entirely different things.

it was never really a defect. the blown tires are a result from under-inflation. they of course made the sidewalls stronger so the tires can hold up to the stupidest of people now, but firestone got a really bad rap for something that wasnt completely their fault.
