100 dB mufflers, 130 dB soundsystem, 145 dB horns. I'm surprised I can hear myself think! Maybe next month when I turn 50, I'll change my evil ways.

I don't know about over there (where the cars are like sofas on wheels!), but in Europe dynamic volume control is a feature in most OEM and aftermarket HUs. Probably because the cars are engineered to give a bit more back to the driver, including a bit of engine noise, and we tend to drive a bit faster!! (also, many of our roads have a rubbish surface that creates more tyre noise)

My car's as it rolled off the line and it's still a function that I find very useful.

Though...now thinking about it, I just had an idea that might make it feasible to make that opt work...
Any chance of some more info on that?

I have the GPS vol set to linear, starts at 50% when 0 Mph, 100% when 55 mph, RR vol mapped to master. Using the mouse plugin in girder, and using the mouse wheel to control the wav vol. Mouse is moded to a Powermate shell, giving me a nice large Vol knob to turn. Vol just has to be a physical knob, screen buttons just don't do it!

Been doing it this way for 3+ years now and gets me exactly what I want.

Great thanks. I'm assuming that I can do it without the vol knob that you've made then? I'm happy using the on screen buttons?

Do I have to tell RR which port the GPS receiver is on or use satnav software that is compatible with RR so that it can get the speed data?

Xport to split your real port where gps is plugged into 2 additional ones. Set RR's gpsport to first extra port and set GPS SW (if any) to the other one.

im using a power mate to control volume right now now.... what exactly is the "mouse plugin in girder"

right now i have commands mapped to simulate keystrokes that for example turn vol up down (master) .... Now i could add another command to each line saying raise/lower wav volume right? to get what you have set up?

Are you then Able to only get 55% of your max volume at 0mph?....

55% (master) x 1 (gain) is still only 55% ...since you cant increase wav volume above "one"...right?

Correct. How many times does one really need full access to total 100% vol, especially when standing still???? The 50-100% swing gets me only 1/2 of what I have the vol at when i have to stop and then resumes 100% back to the max of what I have the wav at when i'm moving again...

I have had two powermate's. One black(now gutted), other silver (collecting dust somewhere ). Driver issues when resuming and sometimes not even being recognized after cold boot. Volume needs to work 1000% all the time, hence where i used a mouse(=no problems ever) wheel attached to the powermate casing.
